This application saves you some hard drive space by tracking down erroneous files, although its multitude of options can begin to run together after a while. Although toddling around Space Hound 32 for a while can give you the basics, your best bet may be to head to the help file from the start. From the cartoonish interface, you can scan a selected drive based on your own specifications, and the program displays a list of results with options to print, delete, export, or launch. The program's search speed is understandable based on your search parameters, which can be by drive, folder, or file size. For example, our C: drive takes a while, but smaller, more defined searches top out in a flash. An added perk is the musical file that plays during searches in case you're bored. We were able to create directory maps, locate duplicate and temp files quickly, and create customizable reports based on file extensions, text, and size. All told, Space Hound 32 has loads of file-managing options for tweaking, personalizing, and organizing your machine.

When I tried to cancel a search it refused, and the cancel button disappeared!?!? then it continued to search for an additional 4 minutes before stopping. Its GUI really is the most unattractive i have seen in a long time. And for what it does, it is large 5MB. The shareware nags are really annoying too. When clicking [Compare] I get this error message: [Compare: ShowFileList Not programmed: AppFiles]. This program is yucky, don't use it! Instead use more specialized and useful tools, use TreeSize (freeware) for finding large folders. Use Mo-Search (freeware) to find and remove Duplicate files. Use WinRar for compression!

Space Hound handles most of the usual cleanup jobs and is especially good at finding and removing duplicate files. <p> <p>I usually get by with free programs, but I found Space Hound so good that I paid up and have used the program for many years. <p> <p>In reply to StavinChain's comments it seems to me that the 7 click restriction is quite fair. An evaluation program is just that. I was quite satisfied with the scope that this restriction gave me to try the product. After all unrestricted use would enable one to thoroughly clean one's computer and then delete the program.

The product, as best I could figure, did what it said it would do.

However, not only is there a 30-day limitation on this program, there is also a seven-click limit on any function before restart (in other words, if you've hit the "delete" button seven times, you'll have to restart the program again before the button is operational again). Too much to do to try to find out if it's fully operational.
