Software Informer is a safe utility that has been designed specifically for those users who care to keep their applications functional and ready for any task that might arise. Its primary aim is to give you up-to-date information about the software you actually use. For that purpose, this program will make a list of applications installed on your computer, and later on will check their versions for obsoleteness by occasionally connecting to software informer database, the expanding server with a huge and constantly updated list of current application versions. The server will only provide downloads after an antivirus scan of the installation package has been performed by antiviruses from several major players on the market, everything suspicioThe Software Informer team is known to work hard to keep downloads and updates from the Internet completely safe for their users.

It is possible to update the programs in time.
Cons
Information on some latest versions is outdated.
Summary
Software Informer is great. It has helped me to keep my system up-to-date for years. I can not only keep track of new updates for my installed software, but also always find new programs in its rapidly growing software library on the web site, read top software news of the world and chat with my friends and relatives. Thank you guys for a great job!
Software Informer is MALWARE
Pros
NONE THAT ARE EVIDENT.
Cons
IT TAKES UP VALUABLE SPACE & SLOWS UP YOUR COMPUTER. YOU ALSO CAN'T GET RID OF IT.
Summary

Pros
A lot of useful features!

Summary

Badly designed program.

Pros
Non that I could think of:/
Cons
Resource hog. Requires constant access to harddrive, RAM, CPU, and network(IS provider allowing that is) in order to function, and uses invalid keyloggers to attempt to match software to available updates, from sites that are often unreliable. Main problem, adds exception to firewall and antivirus in order to function, then downloads viruses in place of/attatched to unreliable updates from unvarified sites thus causing considerable damage to the operating system and, at times, the BIOS which in some cases have made repair impossible.
Summary
Do not download this software in any hope that it will, at any point, work effectively. It should be immediatley removed from DownLoad.cnet.com.
this program is very informative

Pros
Fixed the majority of false updates (most seem to be human-moderated now, with working links). Light footprint.
Cons
Lacks a bit of customisation.
Summary
Does seem to be offering correct updates now (finally). Quite useful even.
AWFUL don't do it...
ubetchaaaa
Pros
none... try deleting this off your computer...
Cons
Recommends old software updates... Hard to use... and the worse part expect POP UP ADS even after you've deleted it...
Summary
DANGER DANGER DANGER.. this will slow your machine down... Good luck deleting this off your machine... I contacted the company and we still are playing tag... they are unaware this stuff is offered on CNET.
Here's part of what they said "this is exactly what boggles us: no one has ever reported similar problems with removing 'Software Informer' before. The whole process has always been the same: Add/Remove Programs -> Remove Software Informer -> Would you like to keep your settings? -> No. -> Good bye.
And we're genuinely wondering what could have gone wrong."
"And a bit confused about your saying it pops up adverts. There's never been a single one in it, either. Would you please point us to the page on CNET which you got 'Software Informer' from?" Amazing.
Great idea, but doesn't work well

Pros
It's free and if you like frustration, you'll like this.
Cons
Reliability of scans and subsequent update information is fairly terrible.
Summary
Sent me on several "wild goose chases" - very frustrating. In one instance it said I had an Intel driver in need of updating & when I went to Intel, they said that driver is incompatible with my machine. I then checked with Toshiba (my laptops brand) and their website did not offer that driver for my model either. Therefore: inaccurate scans & update info = a complete waste of time.
