This virtual printer can transform your documents into any image format, but the trial version will mar your output files with an extensive watermark. After installing the program, you'll find it works just like a printer in Windows, and is usable with all your applications. You can set a few preferences for supported formats using SoftCopy's printing preferences, and standard configurations are easily accessible from the Print Properties dialog window found on most applications. The program automatically sets itself as your default printer and supports several image formats including BMP, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, and PDF. In our tests, SoftCopy successfully converted our documents into each and every image format we selected. Despite the trial restriction, SoftCopy looks like a promising tool for any user.

Developer's Description

Create images of your data using a virtual printer.

SoftCopy is a virtual printer driver for Windows 2000/XP that produces output in BMP, PNG, JPEG, TIFF or PDF image formats. After installation, SoftCopy appears as just another Windows printer to all your applications. When you print to this printer, you can choose to write the output to any of the supported image formats.

SoftCopy supports unattended operation. This is achieved through an extension DLL, which supplies SoftCopy with the file name and image format for each output file instead of asking the user to specify them interactively. You can either use the sample extension DLL that comes with the default installation, or write a custom extension DLL to suit your unique application requirements.
