Although this search utility claims it can find any text within files, it has a seriously limited search capability. Smart Text Finder's interface, although seemingly difficult at first, will prove easy to use once you familiarize yourself with its functions using the help guide. Much like any other search tool, this utility can use Boolean text relations, which helps when searching for files within a folder or a drive. Users also can specify folder groups for a quicker search. The results are displayed by file (the View All Files tab) and by directory structure (View Each File). However, compared to the common Windows search engine, this application comes up short when searching for phrases or words within a file, which we think is an important feature in any search utility. Although beginners may find this application helpful, advanced users and programmers may find it lacking.

Smart Text Finder can search for text in any PC file. In addition to common features supported by similar software, Smart Text Finder can help you find files containing the search text and let you view the words surrounding your search text. It can create various indexes with names you select. Each index contains various directories from which you search your specified text. These directories can be saved and retrieved together with their index. Has the ability to save and load the last-used search index automatically, as well as the ability to search files for names that start with specific letters. Supports all date formats used in all countries and regions, features a Month view associated with File Date range.
