SharpKeys lets you reprogram your keyboard without requiring any Registry hacking skills or any other tricks. It's a neat way to switch to a new keyboard layout or simply prank your friends. Reversing any unwanted changes is just as easy, which makes this program a nifty tool if you have a need for it.

SharpKeys lets you assign a new meaning to any key on your keyboard. You can make a letter a number, a number a function, and any other change your needs dictate. The program lets you make multiple changes at once, so you can completely reprogram your keyboard to turn it into a Dvorak keyboard or to utilize another obscure keyboard layout. Once you've made your changes, the program processes them all at once and requires a reboot. Luckily, you can tap the function key along with any key to get its original meaning, in case you accidentally lock yourself out of your computer with SharpKeys. That's quite handy, because the program might be a huge pain, otherwise.

As it is now, SharpKeys is a cool way to change how your keyboard works, which can save you from chronic mistypes or just serve as a good way to play tricks on someone.

What’s new in version 3.9

This version includes some bug fixes and removes support for triple-byte keys that Windows doesn't support (including hardware keys from HP and Lenovo).

The version here is the same as on Github. Since Windows runs a security scan on anything I download I know this program here does not contain malware. It is very simple to use. I can verify that it works on all versions of Windows I have tried it on including 10. I remap the caps lock key. Launch SharpKeys and click on "add". Then click "type key" on the left. Then click the caps lock key on your keyboard. Click OK. Then click "type key" on the right side. Then click the left shift key on your keyboard. Or click "turn key off" in the menu. Click OK. I also turn off the left Windows key since it may interfere with game play. I still have the right Windows key if I need it.
Cons
I don't have any cons so it is dumb to force an entry here of "at least 10 characters". This just makes for people leaving less reviews on Cnet.

The keys you don't need become the keys you do need (but don't have). Super simple to use. Remap a key once, it applies to any subsequent (USB) keyboard you connect.

This program has one simple purpose: to allow you to assign or remap one key to the function of another on your keyboard. It works just fine and is easy to set up. In my case, I have a compact keyboard that doesn't have dedicated F11 and F12 keys. SharpKeys allows me to map another keystroke combo to execute those keys, which I need frequently in one program. Another useful remap is to turn your Caps Lock key into a simple shift and require a different keystroke combo to activate Caps Lock. Is there anyone on the planet who doesn't mistakenly activate Caps Lock from time to time, and then have to retype the text that you hadn't intended to capitalize? With this utility, you can be free of that error forever.
