Keep distracting Web sites at bay and stay focused.
If you find yourself constantly ending up on distracting websites, you know what a time sink your computer can be. Unfortunately, you can't just stop using your computer because you need it to be able to get work done. There are tools out there that will block you from going online, but there are some sites that you made need to access. That's why I've made SelfRestraint; it blocks websites you pick for a set amount of time. That way you can continue to go online without the fear of getting distracted. Once it's running, there's no turning back until the time expires.
Il does really block the websites you decided to do so.
Cons
Well, I've experienced the fact it doesn't stop blocking your websites, even if you uninstall the program from your computer. I was used to another program which works way much better! But I downloaded that one because I was using one of my friend's computer that had no program of this kind in it and I couldn't remember the name of the other app. I am currently trying to get my websites back from letting the app running for 15min. I hope it will work. Especially that this is not my own computer and I don't want to give it that with that kind of problem!
Summary
Awesome program

Pros
Works great. Once you start the timer there is no way to disable it, even if you uninstall it. The sites won't work no matter how you try to access them.
Cons
Some people are saying that the timer is off but the websites are still being blocked.
Solution: Just run the program again for 15 minutes and when the timer goes off it will be unblocked.
This usually shouldn't happen. It happened to me when I force shut down the process in the command prompt in an attempt to get back on the internet. Silly me.
Summary
It doesnt stop to block sites
Andoron
Pros
It works after some changes in your antivir-program.
Cons
It doesnt stop. The sites remain blocked.
Summary
I would like to get some help, because im pretty angry. This shitty program doesnt stop to block the sites, although the time is over.
Dont use it.
Works great for Internet Explorer
ladymermaid
Pros
It blocked all of the sites I gave it.
Cons
you have to have a link to the exe program on your desktop, it does not download onto your computer permanently, you have to re-load it every time you want to use it. Biggest problem for me is that it does not work on Mozilla which is the only browser I use.
Summary
I tried using this and was confused why it was not working on all of the sites on Mozilla, than I opened up Internet explorer instead and found that it worked great on there, but I never use Explorer so it's pretty useless to me:-/
Doesn't work.
belvedia
Pros
Absolutely none.
Cons
Doesn't work. At all.
Summary
The program pops up, asks for a time and websites to block. It then fails to block anything. A pop-up states there's a new version out, and the website the supposed new version is on then fails to load. I can't seem to find a single distraction-blocking program that actually works. What a piece of junk.
Great for finals week
Dicostaz
Pros
As an easily distracted college student studying for finals, this program is a godsend. It effectively removes 90% of the distractions I have while studying on my computer and is incredibly simple. Just pick what sites you want blocked, how long you want to remain focused for, click a button, and you're stopped from accessing any distracting sites.
Cons
Occasionally, SelfRestraint has trouble blocking Facebook. However, with pretty much every other site I frequent blocked, Facebook becomes a lot easier to ignore.
Summary
Incredibly helpful, especially during finals. No complaints. Just knowing that my favorite sites are mostly inaccessible is enough to keep me from even attempting to go on them. Not only does it seem to literally block you from being distracted, but it provides a psychological edge as well. Well, for me at least. Everyone's different. Either way, it's incredibly useful and highly recommended. Also, mine seemed to download the .exe file straight to my Downloads folder and needed no installation. Not sure how it'll turn out for others, but if you have trouble finding the installation file, there may not even be one.
Cannot find where this program is installed
JSharke
Pros
It works as advertised
Cons
When it installs it doesn't make any start menu entries, doesn't put a shortcut on the desktop, and I can't find it's installation folder anywhere. Have looked in both 32-bit and 64-bit program folders, nothing there. There are no installation options. Program starts upon install, but once I closed it I could find no way of starting it up again. Have looked everywhere. What is the point of releasing a program, if you're going to hide it from the user?
Summary
I'd like to be able to use this program, but I simply cannot find it anywhere on my hard drive. Therefore it is 100% useless.
