Use your other computer as additional external monitor.
ScreenRecycler allows you to use any networked computer as additional display. Many Mac users have a second computer sitting right next to their main computer on their desk including a nice display. ScreenRecycler now enables you to use this spare computer as second display for your Mac. You can even use an idle machine for that purpose. It's like a dual monitor setup without the need to buy an additional monitor. Just start ScreenRecycler on your Mac then connect to ScreenRecycler via JollysFastVNC from your old machine. Use any machine as additional monitor on your Mac !

Can't believe after all these years this is still the only game in town to add another Mac as a virtual monitor. That's said, I'm very glad at least someone is making this app!
An Indispensable Mac application!!

Works well and is very fast. and the Author is very good at responding to support requests and investigating bugs.
Perfect for taking advantage of Sun or Linux Workstation/Server with a monitor to use as a extra screen for a MAC.
I'm using it with a macbook connected to 24" display and then connecting up to TightVNC running on a Solaris 10 Workstation

I had a small issue regarding activation behind a firewall, but Patrick was very quick to respond, and his fix works great.

Don't know if it's the ScreenRecycler server or the client, but JollysFastVNC.0.60 was whacked out for me -- graphics glitches -- though still kind of usable.
Compatible with Panther

ScreenRecycler IS compatible with Panther. I'm running 10.4.8 on my G5 and can connect to the monitor of my G4 running 10.3.9. JollysFastVNC crashes on the G4 but the ancient VNCThing 2.2 works.
My only major complaint with ScreenRecycler so far is that I can't move the mouse off the screen to the left onto the second screen, only to the right. My G4's monitor sits to the left of the G5's and so the movement seems counter-intuitive. I've tried to rearrange the screens in the G5's Displays prefpane, and of course it works when the second monitor is hooked directly to the G5, but not through ScreenRecycler.
works pretty well

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I just downloaded it yesterday and for the most part it has worked well for me. I'm running a 20" Intel iMac using a 15.4 HP Pavilion for the second display, with VNC Navigator on the HP.
I'm not sure if the readme says to turn on Apple Remote Desktop in your Sharing prefs, but you have to do that or it won't work.
I'm using it over a wireless connection (Airport Extreme network, 54 Mbps) and it's a bit choppy, and there are often artifacts. I'm going to get a crossover ethernet cable and see if it's better.
