  Summary

  Science Girls! resembles a Ren'py visual novel, with the player taking the role of a psychology student who is part of a science club. Other members of the club include girls who take other science courses (biology, physics etc.) who you meet later in the game. But all is not well - the world is being invaded by a horde of vaguely plant-like aliens who have decided to make your school their next target. The object of the game is to find the other members of the science club (by moving around a grid, representing the different floors of the school) and escape while fighting off the aliens. Combat is resolved in a manner similar to the old Final Fantasy games; your party is lined up on one side of the screen while the enemy is lined up on the other. When it's your turn, you can choose to either attack, defend or launch a special attack (which can only be used a limited number of times). The enemy then attacks you in a similar manner. This is repeated until one party has run out of hit points (HP). The graphics during the conversation sections of the game are very good, and clearly professional in quality, although I didn't find the conversations themselves particularly enthralling. The combat sections of the game can get quite annoying too; both you and the enemies you fight seem to have a very high "evasion" rate, which means that most of the attacks launched by either side seem to miss, which leads to simple battles dragging on for relatively long periods of time, nor does it help that the sound played during the battle is the same ten second long track looped over and over again, which, after a while, can get quite irritating. It's hard to judge this game based on the short demonstration offered, although I'll say that it's perhaps a little *too* short and I certainly hope that what I've played isn't representative of the game proper.
