Editors' Review
If you grab online videos for a burgeoning collection, this Internet Explorer add-on is a handy tool for saving Flash files from Web sites.
Save Flash adds an unobtrusive button to your IE toolbar. We liked the way it alerted us to possible files for downloading: When the add-on detects the presence of a Flash file on the current Web page, the button is blue. When no Flash is available, the button is white with a black outline of the Save Flash icon.
Save Flash performed well in our tests, and responded quickly. Clicking the button opened a dialog box with the pages available Flash files listed. We were able to select one, some, or all. The tool automatically saved files to our hard drives My Flash folder.
Overall, we were quite pleased with Save Flash's performance. The trial limit may initially seem unnecessarily short, but you can grab a lot of files in 15 days (perhaps more than you can watch at one sitting). The price isn't excessive, but you may want to hunt around for a comparable tool that's free. On the other hand, Save Flash makes grabbing files so easy that you just might find its worth the price.
