Welcome to Satellite Image Download. Do you want to view an image of your home, school or any place on Earth. Once you download and install the software, all that will be possible. There are three main functions of the software. Downloading satellite images from the Google Earth server. The file size is 256*256 each. Allowing you to browse satellite images just like one huge map. Combining images into a single big map, This map may be used directly in OziExplorer. Or you can edit the map in other software, such as Photoshop or AcdSee.
Nice product. But imcomplete, and without the write support ?
Pros
The basic functionality is okay. You can use the google earth to identiry the latittude and longtitude coordinatess to specify the area of interest. The software also includes utility to view and merge the image files which were downloaded in small pieces (256*256).
Cons
The help from the writer seems no longer available. The link to technical support site is broken. I also go no responce to my email from the writer. Also, Select Area feature is not working for me.
Summary
Good idea... bad software
Javo2004
Pros
Installed... In a few minutes is easy to find out how this software is supposed to work.
Cons
- This does not work in my computer with Regional Setting set to "Portuguese" (decimal separator is a ',' not '.'), so it keeps telling "float number is invalid" on longitude / latitude fields. Had to set to EUA Regional Settings.
- OK, on the map I set an area that will automatically fill the longitude / latitude fields - good... Hit "DOWNLOAD" log says "Total images: 6 - Finish downloading satellite images" ... but it didn't download a thing?
UNINSTALLED!
Summary
The concept is excellent- needs improvement

Pros
The concept of giving the user ability to download satellite pics and then joining them all togther so that they can be taken to packages like ozi is excellent. The simple uncomplicated scree is also good.
Cons
I tried downloading images for a part of NE India. All I got after downloading a few hundred images was in patches when joined. The author has to convey some info on why it happens so. Google has images for the whole area.

It would also be useful to have images pulled in from other sources -USGS etc and not depend only on Google.
