Text string search engine.

Do you need to find files that contain a particular piece of text? Perhaps you're looking for "Register" but you're not interested in those that contain "RegisterComp"? Well Search can help you with this. Simply enter a starting directory, a list of wildcard file names, the text string(s) to search for and whether you want to find either string, both strings, or the first and not the second, then press go. Search will show you all the files that match, along with the matched lines.

Version 3.6 allow searching with a blank file mask, and use "*.*" in this case.

Fast, Easy to use, responsive software company

Pros
Sadman Search will search for any string any any kind of file (except within ziipped files). It runs really, really fast, blazing through files and drives faster than anything else I've ever used.
Cons
I suppose it could be more complex and sexy, but that would just slow it down and clutter it up. Searching within zipped files would be a plus.
Summary
It runs really, really fast, blazing through files and drives faster than anything else I've ever used. I work for a utility and it is indispensable in finding that unaccounted for meter or customer account amongst over a million customers and meters within hundreds of files. Good Boolean search choices that are easy to use. It's an example of good solid programming. Also TALK ABOUT CUSTOMER RESPONSE.. when I emailed the company about about a small interface issue that I thought would clear up some confusion, they emailed me back in a few hours and make the change the next day. They also have some other file utilities and games like Sudoku. Good folks!
