This free blog editor does a good job of letting you compose and post to your blog while browsing the Web, but log-in issues prevented us from accessing all but the most basic features.

ScribeFire's interface takes up the lower half of your browser window, and it can be resized to your liking. You can activate the program by a right-click or by clicking on the status-bar icon, though a hot-key combination would have been a little more convenient. The page design is pretty straightforward and we were able to quickly jump in and start typing in the Word-style notepad. The bookmark feature requires log-in information that we didn't have and we couldn't find where to create a new username and password. A Help link took us to the publisher's Web site, but it didn't offer much help. We also encountered a problem when we tried to upload an image for a post. The option to insert a URL image was there, but the option to upload from a file was inactive. Despite this, we were able to post to our blog without any problems.

ScribeFire gets the job done, but there are still a few kinks that the publishers need to work out before we can recommend it.

Summary
This was a great blogging platform, but they abandoned the project last year and have never updated the different versions. I still use the classic version because the new one lacked so many features, yet they have never updated that version either. Sad they dropped this project with out even telling anyone.

Pros
There can be no "pros" to an add-on that freezes the browser.
Cons
On my Firefox, all it does is freeze the entire program. It's utterly unusable. And worse, while the Scribefire site says you can downgrade to the previous version, they've changed tags so that the previous vesrion won't install into the current version of Firefox, even thought it was working before the "upgrade".
Summary
Firefox users have lost the best blogging tool ever. It's a shame, because Scribefire made blogging a pleasure, and now I've spent two hours trying to get a blog post done. Thanks for nothing, Mr. Finke.
For basic blogging it is excellent and easy to use

Pros
The half screen feature is the best thing about this and basic formatting options work well enough. It publishes fast and accurate to blogger.com. I started blogging with Scribefire and then tried every blog editor I could find and none were as comfortable to use as Scribefire.
Cons
It doesn't have advanced features like some other blog editors, if that's what your looking for and sometimes using images and video it falters.
