Though you can easily split and merge files using this application, some limitations mar its usefulness. RZSplit 2002's utilitarian interface offers a simple directory for locating files and selecting a destination folder, and you can apply a file mask so only specific file types will be displayed. Four preset split sizes are offered, including 1.44MB, or you can enter your own custom size. Split files will have an extension recognized only by the program and they can't be opened or used until they're recombined. If you're sending the split files to someone who doesn't have RZSplit 2002, you can opt to include a BAT file. The recipient need only click the file and it will instantly combine files into their original format. Unlike similar applications, the program can only combine files it has previously split, but the process is just as easy as divvying them up. If you want to break up larger files to work with them, you'll need to keep looking, but this app fits the bill if you just want to store or send your oversize files.

Pros
RZSplit worked perfectly on a 12mb exe file using the custom size split option. As it did on a zip file split into 69 floppy sized (1.22mb) pieces. The box telling users the amount of free disc space is a nice touch. I would not hesitate to recommend RZSplit to anyone.

Split my files into the size I requisted in a short amont of time (two minutes for a 1.5 gig file) and it hasnt froze on me yet. Best of all the install and key only make up about a 512k zip file so I can include it along with the splitt files to put them back together at the other end. Very good software.
Does exactly what it was built to do

Summary
No simple feature to split in two. Created 2 files of different sizes, with extensions of 001 and 002 (not avi?). Neither of which would play in Win MP.
Are you kidding?

Summary
Selected my file, selected distination folder, selected the size of the split -- what do I get? This program asks me if I want to split the file into two pieces of equal size. I say no -- I want to do what I requested! Program stops. Is it a limitation of the trial? I certainly am not going to find out by paying money for it!
