Editors’ Review
This RSS add-on for Microsoft Internet Explorer provides an alternative to using a stand-alone feed reader. However, it offers nothing that can't be found elsewhere for free.
RSS Explorer is a .dll that adds a button to IEs toolbar and a vertical pane to the left of the browsers display area. The new pane displays your subscribed feeds and the updated headlines under each feed. Clicking a headline opens the story in the browser window.
In our tests, the add-on worked fine. Although we liked the RSS feed pane, we disliked giving up viewing real estate in the main browser window. Making the pane draggable to other parts of the window, or resizable, would be appreciated additional features. This isn't a bad tool, but it lacks pizazz. The demo is free, but the number of feeds is limited for trial users. The price for a fully registered version isn't expensive, but it seems a bit much when so many comparable applications are available for free.
