This free screensaver puts you in a roller-coaster car without requiring you to stand in a long line, but we must voice a few complaints. RollerCoaster 2000 Screensaver is a hassle to install; if you want it to be accessible from the Control Panel, you'll need to copy all the files from the ZIP archive into your computer's Windows folder. Once you get the program up and running, you'll find yourself in the front car of a roller coaster with a first-person view of the purple steel track. You'll experience drops, loops, curves, and all the other things you'd get in a real-world thrill ride. The 3D graphics look decent enough, though the omission of sound and user-customization options seem like significant oversights. Also, we should note that even on a new PC, the app's animation was often choppy, so we'd guess that folks on older machines might experience even more serious performance problems. Still, if your PC packs power and you love roller coasters, there's no reason not to try this freebie.
