Editors’ Review
RebootEx offers users a simple, fast, and easy way to turn your machine off from anywhere and even log back on when it restarts. While the average user probably won't have a need for its remote shutdown capabilities, it works on a local PC as well.
This program has an interface that will look familiar to anyone who has used Windows. A small bar pops up on the desktop featuring the exact same icons as Windows for Shut Down, Restart, and Log Off. In addition, there is a button for Remote. Below these are a clock for scheduled restarts and a button that activates and deactivates this process.
The buttons speak for themselves, which makes operating RebootEx simple. The only complex function is remotely shutting down a system, which requires the computer network ID/name or IP address, and password. In general, this program provides users with an array of options for restarting their system.
While the program may be simple and effective, it is clearly not a necessity for everyone. The scheduler is a great touch that may be helpful for some users, as is the remote shut off, however, most everyday computer operators won't need RebootEx. For those people, Windows' shutdown options are more than enough. The 15-day trial is short, but still gives users a chance to see if RebootEx is the shutdown tool that best fits their needs.
