RCCG - Rules Classic Card Games for iOS

Rules: Classic Card Games gives you the tools to find the best game for the players you have assembled, and then helps you learn the rules. This reference app contains the rules and some historical information on dozens of card games meant for various numbers of players, and there is also a filter feature that helps you select games at the right level for your group.

When you open the app, you'll see a screen prompting you to select the number of players you have from one to more than six, the difficulty level you'd prefer from one to three stars, and the length of time you'd like the game to take. Once you've made your selections, tap the "Let's Go!" button to see your search results. Selecting a game from the search results takes you to that game's info page, with an Intro tab that tells you a little about the game, a Rules tab that describes in detail how to play, and a Reviews button that takes you to a listing of user reviews of that game. Across the bottom of the screen is a toolbar with options for using the filter to choose a game, searching for a specific game, a glossary of terms, and a score pad. You can add up to seven players to the score pad to conveniently keep track of points in whatever game you're playing, and the glossary contains definitions of many common terms used in the types of games described in the app.

This app is free, although you can only access the rules to 13 of the dozens of games the app contains without upgrading to the full version for $0.99. It works smoothly, though, and the rules and descriptions of the games are thorough and easy to understand. This is a good resource to have on hand if you often find yourself looking for a new and interesting card game to play by yourself or with friends.
