• I Luv How it Looks on My Desktop

  Pros

  This is just what I wanted and I can place the calendar anywhere on my Desktop and I prefer it to be in the lower right hand corner. In addition it allows me to move the events' info too. I really was sad when Second Nature Desktop Screen Savers went out of business cause I used that for many years and this seems to be a great replacement. It works well, so far with Win 8, so we will see.

• Great little calendar program

  Pros

  Rainlendar Lite is a great little desktop calendar program that is trouble free, easy to use and FREE. The more that I use this program to type in upcoming appointments and things, the more that I like it. It is just the right size for desktop display and loads on start up. This program helps me a lot in my home office environment.

  Cons

  The only drawback to this program is that it has only a few skins to choose from. It would be nice if it included a wider variety. The skin that I use features a gray and beige color scheme that is just fine for me.

  Summary

  Anyone with a home office would surely find this program invaluable as they schedule their daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.

• Wrong calendar format

  Pros

  Easy and quick download. Quick installation and uninstall also.

  Cons

  I removed it because of the European calendar format (Sunday being the 7th day of the week which it isn't.) This is the only complaint that I have since I did not try to use it.

  Summary

  For me this has the wrong calendar format (M-Su instead of Su-Sa).

  Pros

  I just love Rainlendar as it is perfect for my needs. It is easy to quickly add daily reminders or tasks. It isn't too big of a software program that boggs your system down.

  Cons

  I wish it had a reminder time longer than the 2 hour limited unless it goes to the next day but this is a minor concern. Just being picky but it would be nice to have a 5 or 10 hour reminder so that I wouldn't have to go in a edit it to the next day

  I can't say enough about how lucky I was to find Rainlendar as I use it on a daily basis to keep me updated with appointment reminders. It is on the desktop so I can easily or quickly just add or delete a reminder.

• Clean, simple, does everything, floats on desktop.

  Pros

  Easy to add events and since this "floats" on your desktop a quick glance tells you, for example, how busy you're going to be when, and the to-do list is even simpler and cleaner. You can categorize things in both; if you do an icon is displayed.

  Cons

  Which is the major downside of this software. More than one category on a given date and pretty soon you can't see them or the date. I love the small footprint but want to be able to expand the calendar when I need to.

  Summary

  This is the first calendar I'd found, after a lot of hunting, that floats instead of needing to be opened; has an easy interface; does what's needed without being over-muscled; a straight-forward to-do list (although not pegged to events)' and events and things to do are easily sorted into the categories they provide. It makes it easy to see when you're going to be in a crunch time thus how to schedule more things around then. And events for the coming week automatically show up in the separate 'events' field. I love it and haven't found anything I like better for personal business. An upcoming conference: I need to have feel for when I should make certain we've coordinated travel plans, when I should actually start making notes and packing, and let my cat sitter know that there's something coming up. Her schedule is there as well and I can see overlap. Birthdays and anniversaries -- if they're not right there in front of me I'm lost and an indication of how many days before means that people are actually getting their best wishes and such on time. Drs appointments: those requiring driving downtown and often meshes well with taking care of my parents. But those icons piling up? If I'm doing three very different things in one day the clutter undoes one of the best things about this program, everything there at just a glance. If I'm doing something every day of the week there's visual clutter that way. Drives me nuts. On the other hand Rainlander was one of the very first tools I installed when I got a new machine.
