PS3 Media Server is a DLNA compliant Upnp Media Server for the PS3, written in Java, with the purpose of streaming or transcoding any kind of media files, with minimum configuration. It is backed up with the Mplayer or FFmpeg packages.

It features no codec packs to install, no folder configuration and pre-parsing or this kind of annoying thing, all your folders are directly browsed by the PS3, there is an automatic refresh, and real-time video transcoding via MEncoder.

STREAMS MY MOVIES,PICS AND MUSIC TO MY PS3/TV PERFECTLY, HAVE BEEN USING THIS FOR 4 YEARS NOW, i NOW DOWNLOAD ALL MY TV SHOWS AND MOVIES AND WATCH USING THIS, OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS i HAVE SAVED 110$ PER MONTH by NOT HAVING TO PAYING CABLE...LOVE IT (sorry caps lock)

This was a cinch to setup, and lets me play videos from my PC on my PS3 with no trouble at all, in full HD and with Dolby surround when applicable. There's occasionally some slight stuttering at the beginning of playback, but it usually resolves itself shortly. Very much worth the download!

Don't have to fuss with Windows Media 12 shared network issues (unable to network to PC from PS3 etc). I searched everywhere and followed the tech details completely with no dice. This was program was a life saver. It created a media share from my laptop to the PS3. Took about 5 minutes to install and connect.
Cons
If you are a bit less than tech savvy, understanding the PS3 Media Server 1.90 might look a bit confusing at first (a lot tabs for logs, general configuration, navigation etc.) which can appear confusing. Keep it basic and simply have the program detect your media renderer and the PS3 icon will show once connected. Firewall might have to allow access to local/home/private networks. Mine did.
Summary
Great program that saved me a ton of time. I wish I would have found this program before wasting time trying to configure the PS3 and my laptop (Windows 7) Media Player to stream my personal library of movies and music through my PS3. Highly recommended free download.

None it doesnt work well at all

Many. Files dont show up on PS3 even after a full restart of the entire network still only a few managed to make it to the library and then they dont even work..even though its supposed to transcode on the fly. Even if they all would of came up. Streaming doesnt function as advertised, no transcoding ect

Pros
Fast, clean, simple installation. I installed the current Java SDK to make sure it was up to date, ran the setup file for the media server, then launched the program and the autoconfig process did the rest.
