ProCypher 32 for Windows

It took us too long to get our bearings with the unintuitive interface this free encryption program presents. ProCypher 32 worked, but it didn't seem to merit the time spent learning how to operate it.

ProCypher 32 opened with an overwhelmingly cluttered interface. At the top of the window are the command buttons for encrypting and decrypting files, along with buttons for clearing specific fields. There's no flow to the interface element, and the User Guide was too vague to be of any help. After some experimentation, we found the button for opening a specific file is at the bottom of the window. Once you select your file, then you have to go back to the top of the window to enter your code key. We selected our file, entered our code key, and chose our encryption buffer size, but despite the numerous buttons, we couldn't find one labeled Encrypt. On a hunch, we clicked the Quick Start button again at the top of the window and that proved to be the right one.

The back and forth navigating (and guesswork) proved to be the overall theme of the program. We also had to manually remove a folder containing multiple files after the program was uninstalled. Save yourself some frustration and skip this unfriendly encryption program.
