Greatly improve your eBay shopping experience with this set of helper functions. Pricepirates' multiwindowed, multitabbed interface may scare off some novice users, but operating this program is less complex than the crowded interface first implies. Expect some extra time installing this program. At first launch this application requires an automatic software update to version 4.3. Users who are blocking certain advertising Web sites will find this program removes any HOSTS redirects for mediaplex.com. We found that URL redirects through qksrv.net failed for some testers.

Pricepirates compares items for sale on eBay with exact or similar items at other sites. Operating this application is a breeze, but the interface is very crowded. Some users may feel they're lost in the information. However, there are so many shopping features included that there is sure to be a function you'll find useful. Quick searches through eBay, Amazon, and other installed marketplaces is the cornerstone of this application. Enter a search term and almost immediately your window is filled with links to eBay auctions and Amazon pages. Extensive information for each link is displayed in a spreadsheet-like window. One-click column sorting is instantaneous. You can easily create an auction watch list with e-mail or text message reminders. Comparison of products from the various sites is helpfully displayed in one tabbed window.

While we didn't like the URL redirects this application uses, there are more than enough helpful features in Pricepirates to make it worthwhile. As freeware, there really isn't any reason eBay buyers shouldn't give this a test.

when you use this tool, you access the website throught their host website. anything you buy, gives the owner of pricepirate a cut of the purchase. pretty smart, but sneaky. you can do the same thing as this program, without this program. pricewatch.com, newegg.com...those will get you some good deals.

Quickly find out how prices compare from Ebay to Amazon, etc. Faster searching than using a browser, most standard results. A necessity for people who use ebay a lot.

Pros
Just bought a new printer and I felt I got the best price even with shipping. It was reassuring that the on-line store I got the printer from was listed here as the least expensive of those I looked at. More stores listed than I had looked at originally. It was very easy to use. Takes you right to the store site. Haven't used it more than one night, but I highly recommend if looking to compare prices. Connects to eBay so you can compare there too.
Cons
Haven't used it long enough to find any faults. It does sit up on the toolbar in Firefox ready to be used and that might bother some people by taking up space.

It is free. And it does what it promises: it really gives you a pretty good picture of shopping alternatives. Statistics seem to be quite interesting, but it's too soon to tell.
Cons
Navigation is slightly confusing (tabbed interface with subregisters for some tabs), but I got used to it pretty fast. No serious cons really.

It does what it says, but if you have software installed, and running in the background, such as Webroot Spy Sweeper, or Microsoft Antispyware, or Spywareguard, You will not be able to complete the installation. I shut everything down and it installed just fine. Rebooted & Spywareguard informs me my home page has been hijacked...
Cons
It highjacks your home page with out informing you... This is never good guys. When will you programmers learn? Not all people who use computers are illiterate...
