This tiny CPU-monitoring tool is quite handy and true to its name, but it contains only two, unlabeled buttons, and the help file is nonexistent. PowwwerSoft CPU Monitor has a sleek, semitransparent interface with a fluctuating bar graph and percentage ticker with a continual wavelength pattern to show CPU usage. As thin as the title bar on most programs and about one-fifth as long, this program can be docked anywhere on the screen and is always on top. Pushing the green button will access the settings menu, where users can choose to create a log file, change the percentage of transparency, and change the speed of refresh for CPU usage readout. Log files are in the program's folder on your hard drive. Although the usage features can already be found within Windows, the added transparency and accessibility of this freeware program make it a worthwhile download.

Pros
Worked great when I used Windows XP Professional 32 bit.
Cons
Upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Will not run with this OS. I even tried to use the XP Compatibility Mode with no success.

I used to use yahoo widgets to monitor cpu activity but got tired of the size of it, so I've looking for something similar but so far no luck.
Summary
Way too small, I kept squinting my eyes, and it does not start at windows startup. Which is why I got it in the first place to monitor cpu activity during load up of programs If dragged and placed on the top of the task bar it eventually disappears so I have to unlock to task bar in order to see it and place it somewhere else. Nice looking colors and presentation but again, too small.

I liked the old version - small, unobstrusive and easy to understand quickly.

They revamped the GUI and it's now an eyesore. Uninstalled it in 5 mins.

Pros
It does give some information on how each core are sharing the load, which is what it is meant to do, even if it does have the cores reversed. Plus it doen't take up all that much space.
Cons
Where is the developer, I have yet to connect to their site. The monitor give no information about itself. It has a spare section that seems to do nothing, flashing lights that indicate something, but what? Plus it uses the cpu when nothing else is.
Summary
A help file would be nice, as would a link to the developers website. It is supposed to be congigurable, but no instructions are given. And when the computer has been running for a fair while it will use up to 9% of the cpu when nothing else is.

Pros
CPU Monitor gives you real time status on key system performance indicators. Each monitor can be configured for preferred color and arranged on your desktop in the way that best suits you. I far prefer it to any of the widgets I tried for the same purpose.
Cons
The labels for each of the monitors blends with the color selected for the monitor itself making it hard to detect. Of course, once you have configured and arranged each monitor you know which is which, but enabling them to be as white as the status lines would be preferable. Also, using the same font for the label display as one's desktop theme would be wonderful.

if you are like me and like to keep tabs on everything your computer is doing then this handy little tool is for you. With this tool you will know how hard your cpu is working at just a glance. Great diagnostic tool as well.
Cons
No reason for this program to access the internet. Used my zone alarm firewall to deny access. After that it still works just fine though.
