Eliminate pop-up windows while surfing the Internet.

Pop-Up Zapper is a shareware application for Mac that helps you by 'zapping' away those annoying pop-up windows when you surf the web. Zaps away most pop-up ads fast without you ever having to see them. Customize which web sites can have popups, such as banking, email sites, etc. Prevent popup windows from messing with the size of your new windows. Enable or disable Pop-Up Zapper Lite by pressing Command-Control-'x'. Enable or disable it using a menu, or disable the software for just one window via a Command-Control-'z'. Opt to play a sound when a pop-up is zapped. Speed up your browsing experience by not loading costly popup window ads. Free upgrade to Pop-Up Zapper for OS X once you upgrade to OS X (for IE only).

Version 2.04 Bug fix: Sometimes popups in the customized list could cause a crash because of a debugger call left in the code,Do not replace the custom data file if one exists already when installing.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This version seems to run fine in OS8.6 with both IE5.1.7 and Netscape 7 (I know, I knowÃ¢?Â¦NS7 doesn't need it, but the majority of my work is done in IE). Definitely enhances the browsing experience by doing what it's claimed to do. It's easily disabled and re-enabled at any time I choose, and I can't attribute any problems to it. Some sites obviously don't work without the pops, so the first time it happens, I just turn it off myself and reloadÃ¢?Â¦easy as pie. Afterwards I add the site to the list of those for which Zapper automatically turns itself off. No reason for me not to give it 5 stars.

I do not give many apps a MUST HAVE rating, but this is one of those apps. It works in the background too. I'm no longer constantly annoyed in my browser with this gem. Get the full version.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />While Pop-Up Zapper worked as advertised it ceated a number of other problems that kept me from using it beyond the free trial period. While this was installed I had problems keeping my DSL connection, Internet Explorer 5.1.4 kept hanging and I expereinced 3-4 freezes per day. The fix for all of this is a lot more than just unistalling the program. Norton Utilities found numerous problems even though it had been run just before Pop-Up Zapper was installed. While this helped eventually I had to do a clean install of 9.2.2. After a day of this the pop-up windows did not seem to be nearly the problem I thought they were before.
