• Downloads Yahoo groups messages, files, photos.

  Pros

  Easy to use. Copes with multiple groups even with multiple accounts. Downloads files, photos, attachments and of course messages. Search facility is very comprehensive. Export facility as SQLite, CSV, plain text or HTML.

  Cons

  If you download more than 10,000 messages in one session you will get locked out by Yahoo. This is an automated lock out that expires after 2 hours. The answer is simple. Download 9000 messages and then wait 2 hours. Or switch your IP address as the lock is IP address based.

  Summary

  Downloaded most of one of my Yahoo groups messages. Once ended, I tried to access that group to find I'd been locked out due to "unusual network activity" coming from my server. So.. not quite as sneaky as it could be. Having to work with Yahoo now to clear that code.

  Works with no issues Has built in scheduler to download every x minutes/hours Makes managing multiple groups very easy

  Cons

  Only handles messages. A version 45 is in development that will also do pictures, files, etc.

  Summary

  I have used this program for years. Version 2 had problems keeping up with format changes by Yahoo, but version 3 seems much more flexible and stable. Never any problems with version 3 that has now downloaded more than 250,000 message files. A version 4 is in the works that can do even more.
