Editors’ Review
PDFTK Builder is a free tool that lets you modify PDFs by merging, splitting, stamping, adding backgrounds, page numbers, and password protection. The software processes multiple PDF files simultaneously, allowing you to select which page ranges to include or exclude. Merge operations can reorder, duplicate, or remove pages, while split functions generate separate documents for each page.
PDFTK Builder also provides a customer-friendly interface for the PDFTK toolkit. Backgrounds or stamps are applied as separate PDF files, and page numbers can be positioned and formatted via configuration files. Password settings control access and actions for document owners and other individuals.
Merge, split, rotate, protect
PDFTK Builder's join feature combines pages from multiple PDFs in a specified order. You can define page ranges with single numbers, hyphenated sequences, or comma-separated lists. Duplicate insertion of the source document allows pages from one PDF to be inserted into another at specific positions. You can create a new PDF by selecting, reorganizing, and duplicating pages from one or more documents. However, it cannot edit the original text or images.
Split functionality separates every page of a PDF into individual files, automatically numbering them sequentially. For instance, a document named MyPdfFile.pdf would generate output files like MyPdfFile_001.pdf, MyPdfFile_002.pdf, and so on. This allows each page to exist as a standalone document while adhering to established naming conventions. The operation ensures that the entire source document can be converted into multiple files without manual extraction.
The software applies backgrounds or stamps to pages from separate PDF sources. Backgrounds appear behind content, whereas stamps overlay the existing pages. Page numbering can be used to select positions and modified through configuration files. Additional operations include rotating pages by 90 degrees left or right, or 180 degrees, and password protection. Owner passwords restrict actions such as printing or copying, while your passwords prevent opening without credentials.
Pros
- Merge and split PDFs with page range control
- Apply backgrounds, stamps, and page numbers
- Rotate pages in defined angles
- Set owner and user password restrictions
Cons
- No native PDF content editing
Bottom Line
Content security
PDFTK Builder can merge, split, stamp, rotate, and add backgrounds, page numbers, and password protection to PDFs. Operations can be executed on selected page ranges or entire documents, with sequential or customized output. Modifications are made using separate PDF sources and controlled with owner and individual passwords. However, it cannot edit the original text or images within a PDF; it only modifies the document's structure and overlays.
