PDFs can be extremely useful, but they're also hard to work with if you don't have the right tools. Putting the contents of two different PDFs into one file isn't just a matter of cutting and pasting, and neither is the process of splitting a PDF into two different documents. PDF Split Or Merge is an easy-to-use program that can take care of both these tasks. It's not perfect, but it does do a good job most of the time.

The program's interface is quite intuitive, with a wizard that walks you through each step of the process. To get started, just select whether you want to split a PDF or merge multiple PDFs from the drop-down menu and then follow the instructions on the screen. For splitting, you select the page ranges of each of the new documents and choose whether to retain any bookmarks in the original. The program then asks you to select an output location and whether you want to overwrite the original document. PDF Split Or Merge quickly carried out our instructions and created multiple PDFs from our original file. The merge feature wasn't quite so easy; we tried repeatedly to put the newly split PDFs back together with the program, but it got hung up and kept trying to process the job long after it should have been completed. When we tried the merge feature with a couple of other PDFs that we hadn't already split, we had no problems; we're not sure what the difference was. The program has a built-in Help file that describes its features well, although PDF Split Or Merge is easy to figure out without assistance. Overall, we liked PDF Split Or Merge quite a bit. Aside from minor functionality issues, it worked well and couldn't have been easier.

Does What a Free Program Should Do.

1 Offline Installer 2 installed with NO problems (offline of course). (Thats why a lot of you DO get problems by the way - Try it and see. Never use software you can only install on-line. ) 3 Worked 1st time with all functions (despite editors problems - re-joined the split files). 4 No Adverts 5 No Nag screens 6 No File distortions or cross-format errors 7 Asked for nothing in return.

Bright Red Page style. My eyes are still recovering. Could this be changed with windows personalisation settings? I dunno, but I use Vista, so there is no way in hell that I will be trying that.

Spent all day looking for a solution to my PDF related problem. Installed and un-installed one program after the other, all bloody day long. Eventually I found yours which with exeption to the bright red page, was all that I needed and worked perfectly with all that I threw at it. I just wanted to say thank you very much for a fully working program with no serious problems, malware, shovelware, spyware, etc etc etc. ...and no, I am not after anything! I will keep an eye out for any other software you may produce, and will recomend you to anyone I converse with on Software. Good Luck for the future.

I name the file with a base. used the splitter advanced option to split to single pages. then easily added employees names to each file. fast easy. be sure to check out advanced options

it 2 or 3 attempts to understand its range feature but then it was like, duh. well done.

CNET should be ashamed to offer such software as legitimate. Probably why CNET is considered a laughing stock in the Technical World and is akin to downloading from a malware or sypware site. Had to decline over 11 different spyware offers, and to top it off, does not even work. The files produced by this application are unable to be opened by Adobe Reader XI. Running Windows 7 64bit. It is easier to locate, and download a pirated version of Adobe's PDF XI suite than it is to trust CNET provide legitimate functioning software, which is what I did.

The downloaded exe won't install the application on my Windows8 machine. After downloading the exe and clicking the Install Now button, I get an alert/progress window: "PDF Add Pages" but it never changes from 0% Extracting. The window has just one button: Cancel, but that doesn't work either.
Summary
The application itself may be great but I'll never know because the installer fails.

Worked exactly as expected when I first obtained it. Then, over time, one function after another became unusable. At this writing it balks at every attempt to use any part of it.

I'd say the quality on this item is low-low-low - unfortunately. Fortunately there are equivalents to be had.
