- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This release is very important for the Mac. Oracle must have seen enough Xserve sales to justify the commercial release. The Developer releases have been out for years. Whether Oracle is better than OpenBase (it is) or Sybase (it is) or PostgreSQL (it isn't) is not the point. Customers of this database will want to be able to hire the talent to build systems around it. I don't know too many OpenBase or Sybase developers, but I can name a large number of Oracle developers. Any database is useless without its database developers. Yes, the licensing fees are high.
