NMC player/AniMplayer is a multipurpose home Media playback software. Lycoris runs under the Mono Framework, or MS .net 2.0. The very idea was to make an ultimate media playing solution to windows, which is easy to use. Features: Full Vista support (both Aero and non Aero) and Server 2008; Experimental Linux support; Advanced Playlists: Own .npl format and functionalities like playlist halt, jump entry, or playlist merging via the playlist's list. It also supports .pls and m3u (as m3uext , m3u extended); Audio/Subtitle track selection, and the Series mode to keep and apply your track settings to the next played media, so you don't have to choose the audio subtitle language all the time; and MSN nowplaying.

Version 2.8.01 includes several changes such as special switch on the playlist gui, the playlist saves and loads all the new stuff into the registry, and ability to open and close the playlist window and the playlist order window separately, and other improvements.

Pros
It plays any file format you have, okay I have, including some *cough* not quite kosher stuff that wouldn't even play with Media Centre or WMP and I have a fairly new laptop that shouldn't sneeze at formats.
Cons
The visual look is a bit basic, and its some work to get to full screen. I don't like the orange, I did archery for most of my childhood and there is a term 'goldshy' you try to avoid golden colour as the eye tends to get so focussed, or distracted. It had some button customisations but I didn't understand at first glance what they did.
