Netrek is a free online war game. Battle up to 16 players per game. The ultimate goal is to wipe out the enemy race fighting through the enemy front line. Use different ships and different weapons to battle against people around the world. You and your team battle, bomb and take planets to overtake the enemy. Up to 16 people per game battle against each other over the Internet on a virtual battlefield. Since you are always teaming up with and playing against different people the game is extremely intense. There are multiple servers ready for you to play on and they are online 24x7. This game is war at its best. Small download, stable, simple graphics

Pros
Played on this version about 4 months before upgrading the netrek xp 2009. This version is good, the graphics are simple and for a free 2meg download I can't complain. Was tough getting started, was like playing a space age real time version of chess
Cons
graphics are pretty simple. if you aren't one of those 3d gamer addicts then this is a pretty cool game to play.
Summary
Good game. From what I have been told it has been around for a few decades and has always been free which is kinda cool. There are a few versions, have tried this one for a while and recently upgraded but this one is still nice to learn on. Let's you focus on learning the game without a bunch of fancy graphics.
