  Pros

  It's more complex than it appears on the surface. The random nature of your positioning on the playing field and "respawining" to teams that are about to be crushed make it annoying at times.

  Cons

  Some of the players are insulting and borish and the moderators seem to take an overtly hands-off approach. The game is free, for now, but the price you pay is that ingrates who want to play free games make for a sometimes hostile environment.

  Summary

  Go in, but with a thick skin and eyes wide open. If the game goes subscription, which is promised, it might weed out the immature and callous players who seem to enjoy trolling in the game for fights.

• Tactical team play, real speed, shoot em up and building

  Pros

  Easy controls, about a 1/2 hour learning curve, only about 7mb download. Game format is 6 colour coded teams, where the aim is to destroy all of the buildings of the other 5 teams that you are not on. In this game, one uses a mixture of teamwork and entrepeneurial ambition as well as hand eye co-ordination. The aim is destroy your opponent's buildings and the best way to do that is to build more of your own buildings, and use your building's placement to control the movement of the game. Game can turn into something like a more dynamic and exciting version of chess between two experienced players as they wrestle for more building construction, better attacking tactics and smarter defense.

  Cons

  Graphics are very simple, but do not detract from gameplay. Learning how to destroy cannons can be difficult for beginners. Game is in beta, so variables and dynamics of the game can change greatly. Defense can be more productive than attack sometimes. Overall 8/10

  This game is very easy to jump straight into, after only a few minutes of playing you are fully aware of the basic gameplay requirements and therefore can begin to develope your own ideologies.<p>Furthermore the controls take mere minutes to become reflects rather than reactions.<p>The very fact that victory is very reliant on team coordination makes this game great for anyone who rates teamplay over self reliance in their gaming endevours.

  The true weakness of this game is the lack of graphical detail but in exchange for this the download is very small and the gameplay very fast.

  Pros

  Army of Earth is a very solid indie release, in beta at the time of this review. The basic concept is teams of players controlling individual robots in a FPS/RTT environment, attacking each other's bases and trying to blow it all to pieces. <p>The maps are generated by the game so the terrain always has some new wrinkle to it. The robots and bases have a lo-fi, kind of Flash Gordon graphics aesthetic to them (though personally I like this style, I know it's not for everybody), but on the other hand this game runs very, very well on my laptop, which hardly is a gaming powerhouse. <p>The multiplayer possibilities for this game have a lot of potential, but there also are AI controlled robots for you to fight against if there aren't any live opponents. It looks like the dev will be releasing the server for this game as well, so you could set up your own playground. <p>All in all this is a fun, pickup game with a good combination of that good old FPS adrenaline rush and RTT decision-making.
