Pros
Fast and apparently clean install. NL recorded and displayed traffic stats nicely. It limited bandwidth for the one program I wanted to limit.
Cons
Right after I installed NL, my system began locking up approximately every two minutes: no response to keyboard and mouse; in media players, video froze and audio turned to a loud buzzing. The lockups started at about 3 seconds long and gradually got longer. When I rebooted, the lockups returned to 3 seconds long, then started getting longer again. After two days of this, and trying other fixes, I uninstalled NL. The system lockups stopped immediately.
Summary
I experienced only one side effect, but it was such a big one that I couldn't use NL. I'm running a Dell Studio 1555 with Intel Core2 Duo T6600 @ 2.20 GHz, 4GB RAM; Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, SP1, current on updates; Firefox v26.0; principal media player KMPlayer v2.9.4.1433 (but had same problem with MPC, VLC, and WMP).
