Set download or upload transfer rate priority for applications and monitor their net traffic.
NetBalancer Free use to browse and do any Internet activity comfortably even when your download manager or torrent client downloads huge files from Internet just lower their network priority with NetBalancer. You can use NetBalancer to set download or upload transfer rate priority for any applications and monitor their Internet traffic. Applications with a higher network priority will gain more traffic bandwidth than those with a lower one. Benefit NetBalancer and other traffic shaping software is that NetBalancer works with priorities, so applications with low priority won't be limited if other high priority applications don't use network.
I've been able to block program access to internet instantly and it has the ability to prioritize and limit bandwidth. I've used it on 3 different systems without difficulty.
Cons
The main reason I won't purchase this product is there is a limit of 1 activation so each time I have to install the product I imagine I'd have to contact the vendor and reset the activation or maybe even have to repurchase so I avoid such products and look for other solutions. I don't like to support such practices.
Summary
If you can get by with the free product then you should be okay but if you need to purchase for additional features then be prepared to have the problems associated with only having 1 activation.
Shocking I can't believe what this thing does
P.FIFY0502
Pros
None it kills your internet
Cons
This thing kills your internet access. So as a result it is useless
Summary
Extremely dangerous freeware to download
laukam
Pros
None, never be able to see any functionalty
Cons
It shutted down my network completely. Need a system restore to get back what I used to have. Follow-up uninstallation was very time-consuming. I would not recommended you to try, unless you do it on a to-be-thrown away computer.
Summary
Never try otherwise you may waste a day to restore everything you used to have
Completely blocked my internet connection
kimada17
Pros
Nothing at all.
Cons

Summary
I connect to the net using a wireless modem. It has a 5 gigs/month bandwidth limit which I track on a daily basis. Lately the bandwidth has gone way up for no reason that I can trace; the counter that comes with the modem software isn't very specific. After my most recent session, when 140 megs got added in less than 2 hours for no reason I could point to - I wasn't downloading anything - I decided to look for a way to track my usage more specifically. I thought this program would do it. It not only didn't, but after I installed it I couldn't access any websites at all. My browser was acting as if the computer was disconnected.
I opened Netbalancer and tried changing the settings but that was difficult because they didn't make much sense to me and of course I couldn't look up any help online. I tried disconnecting the call, which worked, but then I couldn't reconnect; the authentication stalled. Next I tried uninstalling Netbalancer but the uninstall also got stuck. I ended up manually shutting the computer down and then starting it up again, after which the uninstall worked and I am now able to get online to write this review.
It's possible this software is just too advanced for me. But to have it completely block my connection on its default settings is past ridiculous - it's dangerous. There is no way I can recommend this to anyone.
Really outstanding monitoring and analysis
CobaltCoding
Pros
Really good tool, gives excellent overview of exactly what's happening with your network traffic.
Cons
Sometimes needs a reinstall when windows is updated, but always worked for me.
Summary
Tested on Windows 8 (x64) and Windows 8.l (x64)
Nice, like this very much.
vmax22
Pros
Allows easy identification of traffic in and out, and active connections, for relative non-techie like me.
Cons
Very occasionally it will use high CPU, just when the UI is open. (UI + Service = 52% CPU). However most times just uses similar resources to typical web browser, less when UI is closed.
Summary
Been using this 521 version for 6 weeks. Tried it on a VM first due to bad reports. All good. Installed on my host system, all good. Has some nice improvements over earlier versions.
(System=Win7+E6750)
Blue Screen
clintorian
Pros
Can't tell, got a Blue Screen on installing
Cons
Caused blue screen boot loop
Summary
On rebooting to complete the installation, my computer crashed to the blue screen. Every time I booted up it went back to the blue screen, so I started in safe mode, uninstalled, and we're back to normal.
It might just be my system configuration, (Windows 7 professional 64bit on ASUS A53s laptop).
Worked great until PC restarted.. then blue screen.
Keyouse
Pros
Worked well! Limited my broadband usage, per program, like said. Also very nice to have a built-in scheduler.
Cons
Everything worked well, until I restarted my PC. The program finishes installation once you have restarted and booted Windows. After the rest of the files are finishes installing, Windows then finished loading, to the log-in screen. I then logged in and shortly after, on multiple tries, Windows fell into the wretched 'blue screen of death'.
I will also note that I did a system restore (although unnecessary), and then reinstalled the software, and the same issue occurred.
To fix, I just booted Windows in 'safe-mode', uninstalled NetBalancer, restarted in normal mode. All was then well.
probably some minor coding to fix, but it is a major issue for the user.
Summary
BSODs in normal and safe mode
Fname_gr
Pros
I don't really know. Read the other reviews.
Cons
A disaster in my system (Original non cracked Windows 7 64bit). After the installation and first reboot I was getting BSODs a few seconds after the OS was loading. In safe mode BSODs.
Summary
Test it in a secondary istallation first. If it works there and you find it good for you, pray that it would work to your main Windows installation without problems. It installs drivers and if these drivers are not compatible with yous system,... good luck.
I managed to uninstall it by disabling LAN in BIOS and changing in msconfig the option to selective startup ( fortunately I had a few seconds in windows before the BSOD to do that ).
My favorite free bandwidth controller program
Savicava
Pros
- Limit desired service download and upload
- Detailed information of network flow and processes
- Clean and simple interface
Cons
None that i found in my basic use
Summary
If you wanna limit your roommate's internet speed so it doesn't suddenly interrupt your work, when let's say he starts watching web stream like videos, that has higher priority than downloading which can really slow your progress in those valuable seconds... use this program on his PC!
Don't forget to explain him the whole situation :-)
