This is an inobtrusive, stay-out-of-the-way window manager. You can have only 9 desktops, but you can open multiple copies, each of which give you 9 more desktops. Right-clicking on a desktop number will move the current window to that desktop.
Cons
None that I have found, and I have been using this for, oh, probably 7 or 8 years now, in multiple Windows versions, currently on Win 7 and still working great.
Summary
This is especially good if you are working on a corporate desktop, where software installations are discouraged (or prohibited). It is a simple EXE file, you just double click on it and it starts, and your local system administrator never knows you are using it so they don't demand that you stop using "unauthorized software". I have used it at several different corporations with no issues whatsoever. This simply makes me more productive!

Pros
I've been using this one for years and it keeps on keeping on, thru XP and on to Win7, it hasn't given me any trouble. Nothing crashes it. Nothing seems to be too hard for it. I'd pay for this one if I had to.
Cons
About the only thing I wish it could do is send a window to a specific desktop using the context menu.
Summary
I've had it auto start for so long I've forgotten when I started using it but it has never failed me and always does the job I need it to do when I need it to do it..
This is it! Look no further!

Pros
It works! It's stable, has good documentation, offers enough features to be useful, uses little memory, switching is fast.
Cons
UI could use a visual overhaul (looks like Win 3.11!)
Summary
After trying AltDesk, VividDesktop, Vista/XP Virtual Desktop Manager, this is what I've been looking for!
PS: If you want to rearrange tasks on the taskbar, try Taskbar Shuffle! Plays nice with MultiDesk.
Easy to use, small footprint, reliable.

Pros
It seems to do the job
Cons
I don't like the look. I don't like to say that (it look like advertisement for other programs), but i prefer Dexpot. The interface look really old with Windows 3.11 icons...
Summary
very good, but dexpot is better

Pros
I've used multidesk for years, and been very happy with it; It's user interface (using hotkeys) was exactly how I wanted to operate.
Cons
I've repeatedly and ramdomly put up with a problem where if I had IE runing on one desktop, and switched to another and started another IE, and then switched someplace else, all the IE windows would go away. Now for some reason other windows are getting lost (outlook, pidgen) and even though there might be a tray icon for them, they won't open up.

There have been other times where I wanted one more virtual desktop - why does multidesk limit you to 9 - why not 10? 20?

I've switched to dexpot and haven't had any of these problems, and can now have up to 20 desktops, and can easily configure the hotkeys the way I want them.
