  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm so confused. I downloaded and installed version 7.16 months ago. As I was downloading this I I loaded up my version and sure enough it says 7.16. My biggest complaint about this software is that it is prone to crash. Not only that, it NEVER exits correctly. After I quit the program I ALWAYS get a crash notice. I bought a Microtek scanner because I have had great success with them in the past, and this scanner is great. It's the software that is garbage. I wonder when these people are going to get things together. I avoid scanning whenever possible because this software is so bad. and I thought it was BETTER than Umax's software! Can someone please direct me to a scanner/software that is good! I don't even know if I should install this latest version.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Microtek, my scanner went out with the trash 4 months ago after waiting for you to update these drivers. Do you really seriously think that people will wait that long without a useful scanner for you to write drivers? Good luck with any return customers after your very very poor support of the mac platform! After using microtek scanners for years at home and at work, I purchased an Epson, at least they update their drivers for the mac once a century.

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Microtek software is the worst possible choice to run a Scanmaker 5 for SCSI on my Duel 1.42 G4 running OSX. Vue Scan or Silverfast blows Microcrap Software away. It's incredibly better even when Micropoop did work on OS9. I was ready to get a different scanner until I discovered Vue Scan.... It's a must have for us poor suckers with Scanmakers.....

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />After all your downloading of 50 megs of junk to dump in 50 places on your machine.. it fails to work!! Both 7.11 and 7.16 DO NOTHING on Panther! Much like the company! They consistently fail to support via testing and communication. Not only did they simply not support my old scanner on OS X, they just did the same to my company's $800 scanner. MICROTEK needs to make just a couple scanners, support them, and release 1 piece of software with 1 name that WORKS. It's called focus.

ScanWizard works, but starts REALLY SLOW !! So is the plugin it puts in my Photoshop CS. Yeah....at least there are better apps like Vuescan.

I then went to the folder located in Library/application Support/ScanWizard 5 V7/Support Bundles/Scanner_Drivers/ and deleted every scanner driver higher than my 4800 Since I use the 4800 I have no need for the others. Luanched the new sofware and works fine (Scanned a document to test)

  This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I followed all of the directions on the Microtek site for using 7.01 as a "work around" in Panther (since they don't yet have an officially Panther-compatible version), rebooted (in 10.3.2) and none of the programs even started up!!! I wasted over an hour of my life on this, and over the last couple of years I've wasted even more trying to deal with the various bugs... 7.10 worked fairly well in 10.2, but this "work around" is all work and no "around".

Since I bought the Scanner it was a pain. I will put the Scanner in the Trash, because I am ashamed to give it away for free. Nobody should deserves to use such crap! I waited for months for an update. Now I am fed up. This review and done.

First I bought a Scanmaker 5 which was sometimes good and more often bad....Then the 5700...No good with any software on Panther....so so good on earlier OS..... I have wasted a lot of Time and Money with Microsuck.... DON"T USE MICROTEK !!!!! I am pissed off.
