when working the trial seemed ok even though it did not work for the entire 60 day free trial.
Cons
trial stopped working the first few days, paid for the full version and it would not load after entering the key. after hours of reinstalling, and configurations I called for refund.
same issues with map point stopped working after a few days
Summary
for me i like this software when its working. i would blame my system, but if this software wont work right and others something needs more attention and i am running a new computer.
I would not download
finhawk
Pros
None worth mentioning
Cons
Not a one that I know of
Summary
I would not bother trying for the 4th time
Nice interface, my wife is able to run it to navigate.
waynebittle
Pros
Will recalculate trip if you must go off route while traveling.
Cons
Is not up to date on several roads we travel although I don't think this is a fault of S&T but a database deficiency.
Summary
Does a pretty good job of route planning and navigation with a gps.
Bogus download
Bedfordbiker
Pros
Simple to use
Cons
The 60 day trial is a farce-if you close the program and open it again it demands the product key. I have spent a lot of time trying to deal wtih MS-they are basically unresponsive-hard to evaluate software that only runs once and can't be reopened.
Summary
Might be worth the $40 SRP if, and only if, the eval copy actually worked. It takes over 30 minutes to uninstall and reinstall it each time you want to open it. Microsoft won't deal with the non-working issue. I downloaded it both from CNET and from MS - neither copy will run more than once. Maybe if there was a way to let it actually run for 60 days I might buy it. Another program I downloaded from MS (MapPoint) actually does intall and run correctly using the eval version. Someone at MS (programmer???) forgot to tweak the code and as ususal, MS is acting totally irresponsible and like they don't understand simple English. I guess I'll stay with my older program. It's funny, the amount of time/dollars MS has spent on sending me stupid emails with non-working suggestions is costing them more than just giving me a product key. I don't mind paying for the software if I want to keep it - that's only fair.
Good product, easy to handle
doublejf
Pros
I like all the informations given but ... see below
Cons
They have removed the rubber band search in the 2010 version which was very useful for me.
Summary
I still like the product I simply have to work with my 2005 version and also with the 2010 version. If there was a way to make my 2005 version work combining the 2010 version, please let me know.
Question: If a buy the 2010 version from you, will I get the CD's also?
Thank you for your answer.
Installation Files Corrupt 11-3-10
MCOExec
Pros
N/A - I have used the product before and like it.
Cons
N/A - Download does not complete.
Summary
Wanted to check out the updated demo, but both this version as well as the download from Microsoft have corrupt install files.
It is nice to have maps when you're NOT connected.
davidcford
Pros
Accurate maps. Self contained.
Cons
Activation is a pain because if often fails. New interface is more cluttered and for me harder to use. Earlier, simpler versions were better. Wish there were more options for highlighting businesses/places.
Summary
I own all the previous "Streets" but 2009 which is installed on my computer keeps saying activation required even though I've done it twice. this usually happens when I'm on the road in desparate need of a map. Argh. If Microsoft fixed this problem I would have bought 2010. Now I'll look for something else.
I still have Streets 2006
DanSeery
Pros
did not need it
Cons
streets 2006 still great
Summary
My 2006 was still good, did not need to spend the money for 2010. However, if there were an update for 2006 making it 2010, I would consider it
Unable to install on Windows Vista
msecour
Pros
Since I have been unable to successfully install I have nothing good to say.
Cons
I've given up trying to install. The first download produced "unexpected errors." 2nd download "installed" but the program will not open. Error message: "Registry settings were not copied correctly. Reinstallation yielded same results. Have given up.
Summary
Would love to hear from others who have been successful with installation.
Good maping system
razor32308
Pros
This was a very good maping system that got updates on traffic and was able to help you plan a route to places. This program was similiar to mapquest or googles features to get you directions
