Editors’ Review
We've seen much worse than Merry Christmas Screen Saver. Rolling script wishes the viewer a merry Christmas and happy New Year. The music, despite being MIDI, features jaunty arrangements of "Jingle Bells," "Jingle Bell Rock," and "Joy to the World." Pictures of a snow-bound church, Santa, and children building a snowman float around while stylized stars twinkle unconvincingly. The paid version comes with 10 songs, 10 pictures, and password protection.
We couldn't overlook the intrusive nag screen that pops up every few seconds, though. Also, the screen freezes for a moment between songs. Though the install politely asks before making itself the default screensaver, it adds two extra promotional links to the desktop and downloads as a ZIP file. You can only turn the music on and off, but you can adjust the speed of the drifting elements. In the end, these faults heavily diminish the charms of Merry Christmas Screen Saver.
