MedReader Allied Health Edition for Windows

The whole point of an RSS feed reader is to make it easier to get online news and information, and MedReader Allied Health Edition misses this point entirely. There's not a whole lot to the interface, just a limited toolbar, panes to view and search sites, and a folder tree to organize those you add. Still, it will take a trip to the help file to get started unless you're already familiar with feeds, and even then, the online guide isn't very detailed.

The real problem with MedReader is the simple fact that we weren't able to add a single feed. You can pull up and search a site for feeds, but this didn't return any results for us, even with sites that definitely had feeds. When we tried manually adding them, the program consistently returned an error message stating that the document format wasn't supported. No other features or functionality are offered.

Health-care professionals in search of medical news shouldn't be fooled by this freeware's title. They're better off trying one of the many general feed readers that can pick up feeds far more effectively.
