  well it's not that difficult to decode it & just add a func that disables win key... so stop complaining xD

  & yeah I prefer linux as an os rather than Doze, but it's not a bad locker for the slightly inferior operating system ^.^

  I love the matrix scheme and simplicity of use.

  ---I had the matrix 1.0 and a couple other versions. Somewhere along the way, it has lost two settings that were useful: The ability to set how many characters ran in the screen saver (lessening the power consumption and strain on the graphics card/CPU(s) and the ability to lock the taskbar, which leaves the PC open as if it wasn't locked. Running a dual core/dual Opteron workstation, without the ability to lessen the load, makes no difference, but a locker should lock* and the newer versions, to my disappointment, do not.<p>---My 15 year old daughter cracked this by clicking on the icon for the browser three times, thus burying the screen saver in the background.<p>---It was* a great utility and if Windows was stable, I would still have version 1.2 (IIRC, was the best version). <p>---My review on the version 1.4 and 2.0 is that it is just a screen saver... without the option to add it to Windows' screen savers list and incorporate it into the system. So, it is a stand-alone screen saver with password option, not a locker*.

Total disappointment after having used previous versions and was hoping an attempt to rectify this substandard version would have been made. Guess I will just try and find the older version buried on some server somewhere. Don't know why this is still here. CNET needs someone to test these programs if they're going to allow them to remain here w/fictitious descriptions &#38; reviews.

• Alright for the casual user

  Requires password to open it, blocks Ctrl-Alt-Del but...

  Cons

  Alt-Tab is not disabled, allowing anyone to switch to any program. Even though the program they switch to is hidden, they can modify anything going on in that program. Also, they can press Ctrl-Alt-Del when they switch to another program and the task manager will pop up! Not very good!

  This does what it's supposed to. It's easy to use and free. Hard to break the code. I tried believe me.

  Pressing the restart butten makes it go away on starup. But thats easy to fix just disconnect the restart butten.

  After reading the great reviews I thought I had found a program that would let me lock my computer during house showings. Unfortunately this doesn't work at all. It only hides one desktop, so my second monitor was completely exposed. Also, everything is still accessible, just hidden behind the matrix screen. I use side and top toolbars on my screen and they weren't hidden, allowing someone access to my bookmarks and programs (although they stay hidden and minimized). And Ctrl-Alt-Delete opened up the task manager in my second monitor, allowing me to force quit the Matrix app. So this program didn't offer any real protection at all. I'll keep searching.
