In MARVEL Mystic Mayhem, you collect and deploy iconic Marvel heroes and villains. These characters are categorized into Striker, Controller, Fighter, or Defender roles, which dictate their performance in grid-based battles. The game encourages building varied teams, as each unit has specific movement types, attack patterns, and battlefield roles. Characters unlock through progression or events and can be leveled and refined further to enhance their stats and special skills.

You can use each character's normal skills, and they also have a unique ultimate ability that activates when you fulfill their specific conditions. Positioning affects area-of-effect damage and crowd control effectiveness. You tap into the environment during combat by exploiting traps or choke points. Enemies have weaknesses that trigger bonus effects when targeted properly, which rewards pattern recognition and attack planning over button-mashing or speed.
