MakeMKV is a format converter, otherwise called "transcoder". It converts the video clips from disc into a set of MKV files, preserving most information but not changing it in any way. The MKV format can store multiple video or audio tracks with all meta-information and preserve chapters. There are many players that can play MKV files nearly on all platforms, and there are tools to convert MKV files to many formats, including DVD and Blu-ray discs. Additionally MakeMKV can instantly stream decrypted video without intermediate conversion to wide range of players, so you may watch Blu-ray and DVD discs with your favorite player on your favorite OS or on your favorite device.

Fast quick rip to lossless MKV format.
Cons
Only rips to MKV, but then again, that is all it claims today.
Summary
Great product for what it does. Make sure you never download anything from this website though as the files often include spyware/malware. Not sure why. Always go direct to manufacturer site. Also, this cnet.com site blows. It doesn't work in chrome and is full of crappy reviews by people who don't follow instructions or expect "Trial" versions to be fully functional.

-- it doesn't work because the shareware trial is expired immediately after installing -- it comes bundled with a bunch of malware that installs browser toolbars, fucks with your homepages, etc., and the installer doesn't even prompt you about that. -- Whoever uploaded this POS should die in a fire.
