• decent but bugs destroy it

  fairly intuitive, relatively fast rendering, decent features and works well most of the time

  Cons

  occasional blips on the functionality might be m$oft issues but i stopped using it because the app frequently forced me to re-register and now i can't use it because i get the message i've registered it too many times and i only use it on one system. sadly i've got a lot of money invested in about six different versions so i'm making Sony and Corel my choices for editing, i'd use an adobe product too if they didn't want to own my computers

• Getting Better

  Pros

  A lot of editing tools are included with the paid version of the software. Almost to many video editing and enhancing tools along with audio and photo editing. The 64 bit version is faster than previous versions. If your goal is to bring an older video back to life, or produce something amazing, this program will do it.

  Cons

  The problem with graphics adapter software is not related to Magix. The last two releases from nVidia stopped my computer from using the enhanced CUDA 4 core processor.

  Summary

  Read the instructions on how to install the program. The 373 page manual takes anyone on a step by step learning process. Simple click and 100s of videos explain each part plus there is a forum. A question sent to the company was responded to with 24 hours. There is a learning curve that could be too much for a person wanting to do a rush job.

  Freezes often, getting error messages, different commands from previous versions for saving titles

  Summary

  I have owned previous versions of this software with little to no issues; however, I would not recommend this version. It has many bugs that need to be fixed.

  Pros

  It's fairly easy to use. The interface is pretty easy. Some of the pre-set effects are cool. Importing and exporting is easy.

  Cons

  Why one star? 1. It's really buggy and slow. I have a laptop that runs intensive audio recording software, graphic software and has absolutely no problems. When trying to edit in Magix, the video is jerky as soon as I put in a cross-fade. Trying to do custom picture in picture effects was all but impossible because I couldn't see what I was doing. 2. It crashes. I know every program will crash from time to time but Magic 2013 seems to be special in this regard. 3. Applying effects sometimes changes elements completely unrelated. For instance, applying a position change to a video changed text in a separate part of the movie. 4. Pre-sets not working or uneditable. 5. Menu function was slow, buggy and hard to use.

  I would never buy this product nor recommend it to a friend. It was bought by my boss and provided to me to do editing. It's unbelievably frustrating and I spend more time looking up fixes, redoing my work, or figuring out how to do thing differently because it's so hard to achieve a decent quality result in Magix.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Sep 22, 2013<p/>I want to update my review. Unbelievably it's gotten worse. The program is freezing all the time, and taking in excess of 2 minutes to preload and then it playes about 3 seconds before skipping. Watching the task manager and it's skipping, jumpy and lagging while using 500mb of ram (about a 16th of what's avilable on my pc) and about 25% cpu. It's just ridiculous. I've checked time and time again for answers to this question and predictably all I get is, you need a better processor, more ram, update your drivers. My PC is absolutely fine and this is the only program that's a shambles. I couldn't log into any of their websites as it kept giving errors on their signup forms and deleting what I'd written. On their support website I got an error when trying to create an account and it directed me to the same support page (but you need an account to get support). I'm so frustrated at this joke of a program. I'm uninstalling and downloading something else. I'm done with it.

  I am a Movie Edit Pro 14 user.Seems to be lacking pros based on user feedback &#38; comments about this version of Magix Pro 2013.

  Seems to be lacking pros based on user feedback &#38; comments about this version of Magix Pro 2013. This kind of reminds me of how fast-food chains operate. 1. They give you the best of their product at a nominal price. 2. They add something to the original product and hike the price. 3. They scale back on the product, but keep the price up and try to justify it by offering coupons for savings. This is not a great way to do business with consumers who are seeking the max and will pay for it, if its maintaining some standards &#38; quality. Otherwise, the consumer will jump ship and try another brand in hopes of getting better results. These companies ought to realize the value of keeping their customer base satisfied by maintaining the core &#38; integrity of a product that got them into a prestigious spot. Its like they "forgot" how they went from zero to 100. If they are introducing new versions/upgrades to products - TEST THEM BEFORE YOU RELEASE IT!!!. As a consumer, I like the trial versions that are offered. It gives you a chance to drive it around the block without having to commit to buying it and being "horribly" disappointed. That's the Bill Gates theory. Let the consumer tell us where the bugs are and we'll consider fixing them for an upgrade charge. BAD Business practice!!! If you want my hard-earned bucks...give me a better taste of the pie. With all of the social media and blogs - it won't take long before your name is MUDD in the industry. Shape up! You know you can do better than that!!!

  I'm trying it on 30 day trial. I alredy have the version 14 which although slower to respond has some better features such as a separate title editor, much easier to use. This latest version is extremely difficult to edit titles over the actual video, as it appears to me you must?<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Oct 2, 2012<p/>I am using the trial of this for about 2 weeks. I have used other Movie editors from Magix for years so am not a novice to their products. This one is next to useless, it's a problem saving 3 minute files, although at the bottom it goes thru the motions, sometimes it takes 3 attempts before successful.. The black/grey interface is almost unreadable causing serious eyestrain. I could go on &#38; on but don't wish to waste any more time. The first was also a problem, but nothing like this! I bought it because it was cheap and a later version. It worked for a few months with only minor(yes I call them MINOR)! problems like already mentioned. Then after purchasing the MP4 codec from them, I think that's a scam. No other editing programs charge extra to make them work? Then I had to reinstall W7..... that was when it caused major problems. It crashed often, also I could not import MP4 or any other files at all. I contacted the seller who said Magix would sort it out direct. I have been in contact with Magix for several months, they respond to emails, but were of no help. Finally, they asked me to download SYSCHECK, a software that allows them control of your PC .................. no thank you! I lost a part of my life because of it, re-installed 7 or more times etc etc I give it 1 star, but would prefer - yes minus 5 stars if it was possible.

• Chock-full of editing tools

  Pros

  This is the 5th incarnation of Magix Movie Edit Pro that I have owned and used. While I am not a video pro by any means, I can edit like one with this fantastic software. This has got it all-- all editing tools plus green screening and 3-D rendering. I've tried Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere Elements, Cyberlink, Pinnacle and Roxio Creator-- Magix is the one I keep coming back to to make my vids.

  Cons

  The learning curve is kinds high. You HAVE to READ and learn the finer points of the software. To make a basic video edit and produce a DVD, it is somewhat intuitive; if you want to use more that the basic features, you HAVE to RTFM!!! 3-D rendering and screen capture takes a lot of configuring and trial-and-error-- but you'll get there!

  Ease of Use, Affordability, Richness of Features... I am astounded that a program at this price is performing at this level. Not only if this the perfect beginners tool for real HD editing, but even those who have been around the block a few times with "pro price range" editors will find it more than useful.

  Cons

  Somewhat unadvertised and unknow still. I havent found any major issues. Not once have I had a freeze or burning error, but I will admit, this is not my first use of Magix Movie Edit Pro, this is in fact my 10th edition of the software.

  Summary

  In this release I found that things are faster. What I mean by faster is how long it takes to import or export a project. How long it takes to burn to disc (blu-ray especially). I love the additional features they have added (proDAD). I can only suggest that if you want to edit video, and you want to save time, money, and learning... this is the software.

  I have been trying to find something like this for a long time and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in making good films. My home movies are there forever now. Thanks Magix.
