Editors’ Review
In spite of its modest download size, Living Picture Maker Web Edition creates quite realistic--and amusing--animations based on a JPEG photo and WAV audio file. Making an animation is a snap. You can easily adjust the face contours to match most photos, from front-facing people to animal profiles. The only noticeable visual flaw is the teeth, which look fake. However, the flaw is not very evident on smaller Web animations. You can set how often your photo subject blinks and how it rotates its head and moves its lips. The program saves your creations as compact self-playing EXEs or as Web pages.
Our biggest problem with the program was its stability. When we twice tried sending the animation from the Send button, both the program and Outlook crashed. That wreaks havoc with the three-use trial. Also, the program only works with uncompressed WAVs, so a lot of the ones we grabbed from the Web wouldn't work. Still, just about anyone can have fun with Living Picture Maker Web Edition.
