  The download of the software was quick and I was able to get the installation underway right after the download

  I don't think the Microsoft Installer recognized it, because when I go into properties on my computer device manager, it still doesn't have the drivers installed even though the exec showed that it did.

  Summary

  Although I have the Linksys WCG200 Ver.2 Wireless-G Gateway Cable Gateway, on a Machine with Windows XP Media Edition, The download came though alright, and when I opened the executable the installer showed it installing, When I go into my Computer-Device Manager it has the yellow question marks on other devices and USB Cable Modems. A deeper probe into it revealed the Chip is Atheros Communications AP5008 Wireless Network Adapter. The PnpID is - VEN_168C_DEV_0023&SUBSYS_ 00721737&REV_1 Device = Network Controler Chip Vender is: Atheros Communications. Everything on the exterior case of the Wireless Gateway tells me it's a Linksys WCG200 ver.2 but the Windows Device Manager Properties box sees it as: USB\VID_ 077B&PID_08C1\0018399FB7CB in the Details tab. I don't know if the bug is in the Microsoft Installer or in the executable which didn't find it's way into the registry. If there is somebody who has had this experience out there knows how to get the software drivers to properly install, feel free to send me an emai, because it's probably something very simple that I'm just overlooking, but I can't figure this one out. The Gateway is working just fine without the drivers installed, but I would still like to be able to have the drivers in place to utilize this router to the best of its performance. I would have liked to give you a good report, but having to manually network this gateway to several computers just isn't as fun as an automated setup. I haven't got any other Network devices installed except a 1394 and a Realtec RTLB8139. I would welcome any advise from anybody who has en-counted this problem and been able to find remedy. Clyde-4
