  Summary

  If this utility provided the option of synchronizing on start-up and then going away, it would be perfect. However, if you set it to synch only at start up, it still stays in memory. It would have to stay in memory if set to periodic synch (hourly, etc.) but it doesn't need to stick around for start-up only. This wouldn't be an issue, except that every little thing I install now seems to want a permanent chunk of RAM, and it adds up. Nonetheless it's a great solution for one of the many Vista machines where the built-in Windows synch does not work reliably.

  Pros

  Basic, accurate, low resources, and appears non-intrusive. Syncs in a similar way Windows time sync does.

  Cons

  Need to set time to "About" correct time for it to sync. If your PTC battery is dead, this won't help with dates. Some Laptop PTC batteries are just too hard to replace. So, no good for lazy or technically challenged people like me.

  Summary

  Is it really necessary? Personally, I can't see point in having a 2nd basic clock sync. There are Much, Muchly Hugely better ones than this with features such as multiple timezones, day and date correction, memo, appointment etc etc. I suppose it is all down to what you need or want and your available resources.

  Pros

  Works in backgraound much better than Windows time updater. No nagware or unwanted popups. Full list of servers that update itself.

  Cons

  One minor point that program attempts to update host list to an email account that no longer exists.

• Superbly Clean, Efficient, NON Intrusive, Switchable.

  Pros

  Can be manually run (and stopped). Allows preview of time change prior to setting system clock. (Defaults to automatic mode) Tests all time servers, select the one you want. Simple, with only 630K storage space required.

  Cons

  To close program right click on the Task Bar icon and select close. Cannot be started, run, and exited with just a command line switch. Uninstall didn't. (Just delete directory)

  Summary

  Superb. Tried the others, some lock occasionally, some just don't work well, some consume too many resources. Most you cannot tell what they are reallydoing. Many set clock to wrong time ... now and then. 1) Simple, 2) You can limit what it does. 3) Does not clutter up your system.

  Pros

  Li'l Atomic Clock is advertisement free and doesn't inundate you with popups. <p>I haven 't come across any malware that may have been loaded with the software. It does what it's supposed to do...correct the time.

  Pros

  This is a simple program which runs at startup and automatically adjusts your time. You can also choose to adjust your time manually. There are lots of time servers to choose from and the location of the time server is shown as well (e.g. Buenos Aires, Argentina). Li'l Atomic Clock takes little system resources and is an excellent freeware program.
