She was abducted for ransom by the notorious Black Spade gang on July 7, 1879 at 12 noon. Her family, the sheriff and his men attempted to rescue her but were outgunned and killed. During the battle, the girl escaped and vanished into the untamed west.Members of the Black Spade gang have been turning up dead lately.
