• Extremely unreliable

  Pros

  Works if you only want to backup a small amount of data (< 1GB). But then you could just burn your data to a DVD once a week and have a much more reliable solution, yes it is that bad!

  Cons

  Completely unstable and unreliable, avoid at all costs! * Backup very often stops in the middle of the process, requires reboot to continue. Therefore it a full month to complete my backup of 100 GB data on a fast Internet connection (should have taken less than a day). * Occasionaly forgets the files you allready uploaded to the server and starts uploading everything again! Particularly, it is not compatible with backing up data from an external hard drive (it does backup allright, but deletes your online backup as soon as you unplug the hard drive) * Cannot interrupt ongoing backup (there is an interrupt button but it just crashes the software) * Said "backup complete" even though 30 GB of my selected data was not backed up yet. ot interrupt current backup.

• Simple, efficient backup

  Pros

  Easy to use, safe (strong encryption), easy on your bandwidth (backs up only changes after first initial backup), fast, cheap.

  Cons

  So far Windows only, but Mac and Linux clients are planned.

  Summary

  Doesn't bother you with lots of options; simply select the folders you want to keep safe and forget about it and Keepit will make sure your data is safe - it really couldn't be easier.

• Amazing simple and powerful software for remote backup

  Pros

  It is so easy to get started. Download, register and start making your backup. You can restore 30 days back in time so it is an extended trash can - also if your PC is hacked. Compared to Mozy and Carbonite Keepit is actually even more simple.

  Cons

  Online backup in general requires that you have a broadband connection in order to transfer your first initial backup. This is actually the only drawback.Keepit could be better in reporting when my backup has completed and if there were any problems.

  Summary

  I can only highly recommend Keepit. I have been using Keepit for 6 months now and everyday I have a complete secure copy of all my files without doing anything. In general you should always keep a remote copy of your important files and photos so they don't get lost when your computer gets stolen or breaks down. I have tried to loose photos that I will never see again. I thank for the internet and a service like Keepit.com. Enjoy.
