KeePassXC is an unofficial port to the Mac platform of KeePass, the highly recommended open-source password manager for Windows. With KeePassXC, you can create and store your passwords on your Mac and then sync and use them across all the platforms with a KeePass app, including iOS, Android, and Windows.

Pros

Stores your passwords: KeePassXC stores passwords locally on your Mac, with the database encrypted using the industry-standard AES-256. Unlock the database with your master password and then copy and paste your username and password from the database to the log-in screen. You can also set up the app to autofill your information in browsers.

Syncs with a cloud service: While the password manager doesn't sync your data with the cloud out of the box, you can set up KeePassXC with popular cloud-storage services including Dropbox to sync your data across platforms.

Organize your passwords: The app uses folders to help you organize your passwords into Groups. You can create, edit, and remove Groups and Subgroups to help you keep your items organized.

Free and available across platforms: The app is free to use on the Mac. While the Windows version of KeePass is the official build of the password manager, you can find other ports of KeePass, including KeePass2Android and MiniKeePass or KeePass Touch for iPhone. And the app works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and other browsers. As a bonus, the password manager is endorsed by the EFF, or Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Cons

A bit of extra work: If you don't mind fiddling a bit, KeePassXC is a great choice. If you'd rather just download and start using a password manager that automatically works across your platforms, you may want an alternative like LastPass.

Bottom Line

If you're a KeePass user on Windows, KeePassXC for Mac lets you use the open-source password manager. It takes some work to set up, but it's a secure and handy way to manage your passwords. Plus, it's endorsed by the EFF!

Developer’s Description

Store your passwords safely and auto-type them into your everyday websites and applications.
KeePassXC is a community fork of KeePassX, the cross-platform port of KeePass. Every feature works cross-platform and was thoroughly tested on multiple systems to provide users with the same look and feel on every supported operating system. This includes the beloved Auto-Type feature. The complete database is always encrypted with the industry-standard AES (alias Rijndael) encryption algorithm using a 256 bit key. KeePassXC uses a database format that is compatible with KeePass Password Safe. Your wallet works offline and requires no Internet connection.
