• The Essential mp3 Organizer

  Takes a bit of time to analyze the songs and compare to the databases. The number of features can be a bit overwhelming to start but there is a great online manual for all commands.

  Summary

  If you have an mp3 collection you have mis-labeled tags. This is the program you need to manage your mp3 collection. Period. (FYI I have tried every other batch tagging program I could find and this is, by far, the best. ) Simply this program works. It is worth every penny in the time it saves. Save time looking and start tagging. Right from install Jaikoz is preconfigured to "AutoCorrect" songs. All that needs to be done is choose the directory, select the songs and hit the icon for AutoCorrect. Leave it overnight and it is done. The corrections can then be reviewed and then saved. (It is always good to review any corrections made by any automatic tagger. This program is by far the most accurate and requires the least manual correcting.) It does take time, corrects about 1000 songs per hour. (probably depends on internet connection) FYI I like this program. I had questions to start and the author responded immediately and in detail. I have not had one issue or crash or unexpected problem and the features the program offers are fantastic for any situation. It may take some time to fully grasp what can be done with the program but the short amount of time spent learning the program is more than made up by the time saved. I recommend this program to anyone with an mp3 collection. If you do not require all of the features and are looking for a 1-button autotag solution, the author also makes SongKong which uses the same algorithms but streamlines the process even further. I prefer the added flexibility, but either program works and works well.

  Does for your music collection, what a guidance system does for a rocket, and that is not the best part, their support is there for their users.... these guys really care.

  This is a complex program. be sure you know what you are doing before saving changes.

• My ID3 editor Hero!

  Pros

  What I use Jaikoz for is manually inputting data for FLAC files for live shows, e.g. Phish, Dead, Zappa, for which ready-made MusicBrains databases are not available. I also use it to correctly tag audiobooks. You upload the folder, make your changes, and SAVE. For me this is significant because in iTunes, changes are made in real-time, one file at a time. So Jaikoz has given me a lot of freedom in making ID3 changes, especially since I no longer use iTunes. As for ripping CDs off my shelf to FLAC, this is where Jaikoz really *shines*. It has never failed to label a disc correctly, using the MusicBrains interface. Once again, the people who have panned this program are not being realistic, realizing that MusicBrains uses the track number/track times + metadata to label albums, and if these files are all mushed together/uploaded at once, it's not surprising that they end up with a big (though eminently correctable, viz. save feature) mess.

  Cons

  The cons of Jaikoz? It took me MONTHS to figure out where the additional columns are located, such as for Disc number...that caused some problems in the beginning. But it turns out, all the way to the right is a small, pea-sized button with nothing next to it (which is why I never noticed it). *BINGO* Every field you could want is located there. To be sure, I was remiss because I did not try hard enough to discover that button either within the program or on the forums; I am admittedly, a lazy man. Also, this programs takes a good 10 seconds to start up (at least on my computer, win7 3GB RAM). Only Paul knows why.

  Summary

  This program (for me) shines because it allows me to work with files hands-on, with no changes being made until the end. It has every type of ID3 field you could hope for, such that (of course) most of them are never used. It can make many changes to individual files all at once, but not automatically, unless you are using the MusicBrains interface, which works perfectly for individual CDs, and I suppose, libraries that are neatly organized OR have significant ID3 info. (I have never tried it for multiple albums at once, and I am assuming what is what many of these negative reviews refer to: people looking to tag their whole iTunes library at once) Are you an iTunes refugee? Do you want to make your mp3s, FLAC files, or other audio media beautiful? Isn't VLC's or DB Poweramp's ID3 interface not comprehensive enough?; or is trying to make the changes manually within NTFS just an impossible drag? Then you will find the approximately $33 American dollars for this program well worth it! If you're just ripping CDs, after using the MusicBrains feature the only label you'll ever have to change again is the genre!

  Pros

  Every imaginable tag is accessible. Matches with Musicbrains, Discogs, and acoustidIDs. A customizable 'AutoCorrector' to build your own macro. File and folder renaming and moving. The developer is VERY active and is open to practical ideas.

  Cons

  Has a bit of a learning curve. The UI is very non-glitz, so it may intimidate at first (no bubbly Vista look).

  Summary

  Brianissmall has no idea what he's talking about. It's obvious he was intimidated by the non-bubbliness and gave up on giving it a decent shake. I though my collection (~750 Mb) was pretty squared away before with other taggers. Then I came across this and realized that I couldn't be more wrong. Jaikoz will fix the most mangled of existing tags and filenemes. You can end up with a shiny, art-filled tags even if you started with all tags blank and TRACKXX for filenames! Jaikoz tries to match file attributes and file counts with online DBs and return with the exact release, including artwork, lyrics, artist, date, label, and tons more. The UI is very basic and smacks of Excel. It takes a little effort to figure out where everything is and how it works, but once you do, filing is quick and extremely complete. There are tons of tools, and even after using it for over a year now, I still find new ones. Paul Taylor is the developer and is always available through the forum. Questions are answered quickly, and if you find an issue or bug, they are usually fixed promptly (depending on severity). Updates are often, maybe every month or two, so changes get implemented quickly. The purchase price is around 30USD for lifetime support and updates. Once I wrapped my head around the demo and realized the potential, the price became insignificant.

  Powerful program. Can interface with musicbrainz and discogs as well as utilizes amplifind to help identify songs accurately. Can edit around 10k songs at once. Allows one to do multiple tasks via the autocorrector function with just one click.

  Cons

  There are tons of options in the settings which makes for a small learning curve to set it up to perform to ones individual preferences. Could use a plugin feature to allow 3rd party additional options like last.fm support.

  Summary

  The program is extremely powerful. Can pull data from musicbrainz as well as discogs allowing one to auto tag their music. I am an avid collector of music and use it on an extremely large collection and it is a life saver on allowing me to tag things quickly. I find it really nice to be able to load around 10k files at once and then quickly select all the fields I don't like and clear them all out in one click. A lot of fields that most other programs don't even list. It also has an auto corrector feature that allows one to do multiple tasks in just 1 click of a button. This program is well worth the money for anyone wanting to fix up their music collection. I also love how the dev is very attentive to the forums and answers all posts personally, typically within 24 hours. Any time a bug is reported, I find he quickly will investigate the claim and fix it if there is a problem. I have been big into mp3 collecting and organizing for over 15 years now and have been using this program for over 3 years now. I have used most free and commercial products and this is by far the most powerful! Before this program I had to use half a dozen different programs to get all the functionality that I required. This program has eliminated the need for multiple programs and has become my sole tagging program I use.

  None. The program is expensive. It takes forever to look up "tags" and comes back with virtually no tags updated and most of the few updates that are there are wrong.

  Cons

  This program does not work. It finds virtually no tags and takes a long time doing do.

  Worthless. Waste of money. Completely bogus advertising claims.

  Pros

  The spread-sheet format for MANUALLY updating tags and file names is very slick. Which is a good thing, because you will be updating virtually everything manually.

  Cons

  The program goes away for hours and comes back with virtually no tags updated and many of those that are updated are clearly wrong.

  Summary

  Don't pay money for this turkey. Get a freeware tag editor somwhere.

  Pros

  The tags come up in a spreadsheet and it has some powerful features for regularizing file names, "artists," and "genre" (which are a total mess from the Internet) so that you can actually find things when you search on tags in your player.

  Cons

  It goes away for a long time, supposedly accessing a couple of tag databases, supposedly using a sophisticated "ID" scheme instead of just keywords. But they don't seem to do much of anything and mostly mess up correct tags that are already there.

  Summary

  TuneUpMedia that works with iTunes and the iTunes data base does a much, much better job of updating tags although it is a pain in the neck to use and the free MP3tag tag editor's spreadsheet is more or less as good as Jaikoz's when it comes to regularizing artist and genre tags. So spend money on TuneUpMpedia and get MP3tag for free and don't spend money on Jaikoz.

  Slow, hard to use, inaccurate album information in 90% of cases. Have been using numerous audio media player softwares for over 10 years this is by far the worst just want to warn other people life is to short to waste on junk software like this.

  Summary

  Have had numerous Media Players over the last 12-13 years, Creative, Archos, Apple, Microsoft Zune etc. Have used many different types of software have a large Music And Audiobook collection in mp3 format these are ok. on Archos players because you can store and search via folders, but on Apple and Zune content is stored and searched via file tag information I therefore wanted software that would automaticaly tidy up file tag information as Jaikoz claims to do.Unfortunately (for me and I suspect lots of others who cannot be bothered to complain) 9 out of 10 albums uploaded into Jaikoz to tidy up are inaccurate individual files having different artist,album,genre and artwork information, even albums where the written infomation was 100% accurate and I was just after artwork upload were left with file information all over the place numerous albums,artists,genre's etc. etc. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME.
