• Requires Very Powerful GPU/CPU; Artifacts Can Show.

  Pros

  It's free, but only imports/exports wmv/avi/mov;limited but useful effects; unlimited render video length; no video watermarks/no sound "watermarks"; seems to have no bar to commercial use; with all Microsoft dependencies it downloads, still in sum only takes up about 400MB HDD space; at install finish offers three types GPU and one CPU engine option; ivsEdits is from Interactive Video Systems in Italy, a company which exhibited recently at IBC RAI in Amsterdam; IVS says this will work on a number of laptops, offering portability to those who edit/require advanced workstation on mobile basis; they have a 65 minute video posted at their site explaining how to use.

  Cons

  It does require UAC to be completely 'off' to run (advanced users may know how to put UAC back on then allow only ivsEdits through it); no support of any kind for free version; pdf manual is included but for earlier version (seemed not completely out of date); it will install and run on equivalent of Acer 5736Z (2011) dual core (AMD/Intel 4500, non-hyperthreading)64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium notebook, choosing CPU as rendering engine, but at simplest 16:9 NTSC wmv setting, if any sound/effects applied, it takes ten times video length to render; it relies on Quicktime or windows Media Encoder 9...rather than better codecs...to render .mov or .wmv formats, renders resulting in quilting/banding issues where other paid/free NLEs have not on same notebook; on notebook, couldn't "see" any video device including inbuilt webcam I tried; no titling in free version.

  Summary

  If you've got a powerful system, this might work well for you as long as you mind UAC issue, but in free version there's still the artifacts issues to contend with. If you've got lower power, unless concern over "commercial use" of your footage in re NLE EULA is an issue, VLC Media Player, Freemake, or certain other free editors are far more likely to render faster for you...keep Googling/trying NLEs until you find one that won't give you artifacts.

  ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY NONE !!!

  It's very existence. The installer (Or something hidden within it) DOES SOMETHING TO DISABLE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL (Was prompted to restart my computer so Windows can complete that process) It also wanted me to DELETE TeamViewer since it's a Remote Control VNC monitor program. WHY should I do THAT just to install A VIDEO EDITOR ??? SOMETHING doesn't add up as there's NO REASON WHATSOEVER for TeamViewer to conflict with VIDEO EDITORS (Which it doesn't)

  Summary

  CNET needs to look into this. Last time I checked, this stuff is called WAREZ !!! I dunno how badly I've messed up my computer. Heck, I don't even DARE restart my computer until I get the registry cleaned out (I can only hope I've stopped the install in time) In the meantime CNET - DELIST THIS !!! IT IS DANGEROUS !!! IT IS DANGERWARE !!! YOUR REPUTATION AS A DOWNLOAD SITE IS ON THE LINE HERE !!!

  Pros

  1. Easy to use! 2. Superb quality! 3. Realtime Effects! 4. Supports AVI, MOV, MXF , TGA, JPG, BMP and WAVE files. 5. Very rich functionality.

  Cons

  I don't have a one.

  Summary

  A great video editor. Simple, easy to use interface. And, did I mention, it's FREE. I would recommend ivsEdits LE to anyone.
