• This software looks great on paper but beware.

  We purchased the Answering Attendant with the primary objective of auto dialing with the ability of those receiving the calls to be able to respond. This is probably its simplest function. We worked with the email support for 5 months and were never able to get the program to work. Each email response was minimal and took two days to receive. The manual is very incomplete and does not explain all the choices nor how to troubleshoot. There is a limited tech support by phone feature that costs extra money. The company allows for refunds within 30 days. Problem is that they take so long to sort out the problems that the 30 days goes by and you are still trying to get it to work to you can evaluate its performance. Add to that that the program freezes constantly. It is supposed to be able to differentiate between calls answered by a person and those answered by a machine or voicemail. That feature works sporadically. We have asked for a refund. They have refused.

  Pros

  Possibilities include a fluid answering machine with message delivery, even has auto dialing for marketing, can provide mailboxes which are accessed by caller using push buttons on phone.

  Cons

  Takes too long to make it work for simple answering and message taking, and customer service is limited.

  Summary

  We purchased the software in February (you have to purchase the software to try it out) and after about 40 trouble calls which were fairly unproductive, today I was able to have the phone answered and a message taken. However, it still does not give caller id, nor can we receive notification of voice mails via text or e-mail. We did purchase the Platinum Service Plan in February, but that gives you a Skype link to India. While they are knowledgeable, they are not dedicated to getting you where you need to be minimally. If you don't use any features it may work for you.

  Hypothetically this software can do everything I would like! The setup is intuitive and very simple. BUT...

  Cons

  It doesn't deliver. I have tried over one month to make it work, but it won't. It is constantly plagued by crashing and freezing. I have contact tech support over 20 times. They are unresponsive and don't seem to have any ideas on why its not working. My technical understanding is pretty high so its not just user error.

  Summary

  The fact is this program can't deliver. If the bugs get worked out and the tech support improves, then this is a great deal. Until that happens, don't make the same mistake I did and invest over $200 and a ton of time.

  NOTHING. PERIOD. THE BEST PART WAS UNINSTALLING IT - BUT I'M ANGRY I EVEN BOTHERED WITH THE INSTALL, BECAUSE UNINSTALLING WAS MORE TROUBLE THAN IT WAS WORTH.

  REQUIRES OBSOLETE HARDWARE/PERIPHERALS. I WAS INITIALLY ANGRY THAT MY HARDWARE DIDN'T SUPPORT THE PROGRAM, SO I CALLED THE MODEM MFR. TURNS OUT THAT IT'S NOT MY MODEM - IT'S THE SOFTWARE! THEY REQUIRE VOICE/TAPI COMPLIANCE = A DINOSAUR!

  BASICALLY, THE PROGRAM REQUIRES VOICE/TAPI COMPLIANCE - GOOD LUCK FINDING A MODEM MADE IN THIS CENTURY WHICH HAS THIS. IT'S A DINOSAUR! OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE COMPANY - PUBLISHED COMMENTS NOTE THAT MANY PEOPLE, HOPING TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN SOUGHT TO BUY A MODEM WHICH WORKED WITH IT, AND THEY ALL SAY IT'S EXCEEDINGLY HARD OR IMPOSSIBLE! NEWER MODEMS ARE DATA/FAX/TAM (NOT DATA/FAX/VOICE-TAPI), SO THE SOFTWARE SIMPLY DOESN'T DETECT THE MODEM AND WILL NOT WORK. BUT THE KICKER IS,....THE SOFTWARE BLAMES IT ON YOUR DEFECTIVE HARDWARE. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED TO ME: 1 - INSTALLED SOFTWARE, SOFTWAWRE DOES NOT DETECT MODEM, SAYING THAT IS NOT VOICE CAPABLE AND THUS CANNOT WORK WITH AN ANSWERING MACHINE / ANSWERING MACHINE SOFTAWRE. 2 - I WAS DIRECTED TO THEIR TROUBLESHOOTING. TROUBLESHOOTING FIRST TELLS ME THAT MY DRIVERS ARE LIKELY NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY, SO I MUST UNINSTALL THE MODEM AND THE DRIVERS AND REINSTALL. AFTER DOING THIS AND FINDING THAT IT STILL DOESN'T WORK... 3 - I AM DIRECTED TO COMPLAIN TO THE COMPANY THAT MANUFACTURED MY MODEM, BECAUSE APPARENTLY, IF MY MODEM CANNOT WORK WITH THEIR SOFTWARE, THEN IT MEANS THAT I DON'T HAVE A VOICE MODM/ A MODDEM THAT WILL EVEN WORK WITH AN ANSWERING MACHIEN / TELEPHONY PROGRAM. 4 - I CALLED THE MODEM MFR AND COMPLAINED. (THEY WERE LAUGHING AT ME, I'M SURE, AND QUITE RIGHTLY SO). I DEMANDED TO KNOW WHY THEY SOLD ME A NON-VOICE CAPABLE MODEM, WHEN IT WAS CLEARLY INTENDED TO BE A VOICE MODEM, OR AT LEAST A MODEM THAT COULD WORK WITH AN ANSWERING MACHINE. (AFTER ALL, THE MODEM CAME BUNDLED WITH A RATHER POOR PROGRAM, BUT STILL, A PROGRAM WHICH WAS AN 'ANSWERING MACHIEN' TYPE PROGRAM (BVRP CLASSIC PHONE TOOLS). ) TURNS OUT THAT: - MY MODEM, LIE MOST NEWER MODEMS WHICH ARE INTENDED TO WORK WITH TELEPHONY PROGRAMS AS DATA/FAX/VVOICE MODEMS, IS ACTUALLY A DATA/VOICE/TAM MODEM. IT IS NOT TAPI COMPLIANT. - THAT IS NOW AN OBSOLETE TECHNOLOGY. HOWEVER, THE TAPI COMPLIANCE IS WHAT IS REQUIRED TO MAKE THIS PROGRAM RUN - SO - I YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE USING IT, I WOULD ADVISE YOU NOT TO DO WHAT I DID, AND COMPLAIN TO THE MODEM MANUFACTURER (AS THE SOFTWARE TROUBLESHOOTING TELLS YOU TO DO)....YOU'LL JUST LOOK LIKE AS MUCH OR MORE OF AN IDIOT AS I DID!! HOPE THIS HELPS.... I'M GOING TO GO AND FINISH FEELING STUPIID.

  Though I'm a newbie, the trial version did pretty much what I wanted it to do (at least with the call simulator). I was able to set up a system but simulated incoming recorded calls got cut off after 33 seconds regardless of anything I did.

  Cons

  There is really no way to contact the company with questions.

  Summary

  I'm really glad I did not decide to purchase the product since the company (NCH Software in Australia) seems to have gone way out of it's way to make itself inaccessible. The latest version (5.03) seems incapable of recording an incomiong call longer than 33 seconds. I am glad that I was able to use their call simulator during the two week trial period to discover this fact. It seems a real shame since the software is quite reasonably priced and seems to have great potential. I set up a telephone information system in which a caller could access a number of different prerecorded audiotexts. This part of the system worked well using the software supplied call simulator. The caller also had the option of leaving a message in one of several mailboxes. There seemed to be no limit on the length of the prerecorded audiotext one could use but the incoming calls were dropped after 33 seconds. This seems to be a company that really views communications as a one way street

  Pros

  I just downloaded this to fool around with. I'm very impressed with the functionality and the ability to develop Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems on top of it. Even through pointing and clicking, you can develop a simple IVR system.

  Cons

  There is room for improvement on the interface.

  Pros

  This was so easy to set up and even easier to use. We use this to blast out weekly messages to our business partners. We also use the message recordings to build audio testimonials on our website. This software has been a huge time saver! We found it worked fantastic with a land line but not so good with VOIP. We tried 3 other programs and are quite happy with IVM Answering Attendant.

  Cons

  We went through 3 modems before we found one that worked just right. The VOIP feature was convenient but the quality is just too inconsistent. You do not get any product updates unless you pay for them. <p>imagine-believe-achieve.com
